Six Spots To Stay Cool At The Walt Disney World Resort

Summer has returned with all its vacation glory, and as the masses make their annual pilgrimage to the vacation kingdom of the world, it seems like time to remind folks to stay cool. Where can a tired, overheated traveler go to escape the midday heat? Here are six spots to keep in mind for staying cool at the Walt Disney World Resort.

While most people come to enjoy the big four of Disney Parks, don't forget that Disney's Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach Water Parks are two of the best in the country. Guests can spend their days in giant wave pools, floating along a lazy river, or even snorkeling with the fish at these cool water playgrounds. What says summer more than a day splashing in the water under the sun?

Duck into an indoor attraction or while touring the Disney Parks and you'll get to keep on touring while taking a break from the heat. My favorites include the Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom, Ellen's Energy Adventure at Epcot, It's Tough To Be A Bug at Animal Kingdom, and The Great Movie Ride at Disney's Hollywood Studio.

Known for a particularly curious soda (aka Beverley) Club Cool is presented by the Coca-Cola Company and offers Epcot guests a chance to taste test popular beverages from around the world. While this spot to cool down keeps you on your feet the refreshing adventure is worth a visit for a few minutes out of the sun.

If you're a Disney Vacation Club Member looking for a quiet spot to take a break at Epcot, head to the Imagination Pavilion to visit the brand new DVC Member Lounge. This air conditioned retreat offers DVC Members and their guests to enjoy a comfortable spot to recharge both bodies and electronics while enjoying a complementary beverage.

Non-Park days are made for lounging around and your Walt Disney World Resort Pool is a great place to enjoy some summer fun while staying chill. Disney's Resort Hotels feature some magnificent pools such as the mini water park Stormalong Bay at Disney's Beach and Yacht Club Resort, the Bayou with Ole' Man Island at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside, and even the Big Blue Pool at Disney's Art of Animation. With food near by and bustling pool bars so you can quench your thirst, Disney's pools are always one of a kind.

As we've said in a previous article, staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do for yourself while on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Guests can stop by any Walt Disney World quick service restaurants ask for a cup of ice water, and sit down to relax a bit. Cups of ice water are available free for guests to quench their thirst, all you have to do is ask. Choose a restaurant with indoor seating such as Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in the Magic Kingdom, for the greatest cooling benefit.

This list of places available to take a break from a hot day is by no means exhaustive, and Disney offers many excellent choices to refresh yourself. So, if the Summer sun is taking its toll on you or your family, don't push through until heat stroke is looming, seek relief in the water, shade, or air conditioning and cool down for a bit. The Parks will be waiting for you.
