Ringing in the New Year at Walt Disney World is one of those things I dreamed of as a girl. Frankly, I place the blame directly on the early 80's version of Carousel of Progress. However, as an adult just the thought of fighting through the New Year Crowds on Main Street USA triggers an anxiety attack. Avoiding crowds during the holidays at Disney is all relative, and while it will be crowded and busy no matter where you go, avoiding the parties in the Parks will help ease a bit of that traffic.
If you long to celebrate New Years Disney style, but hope for a little less of a crush, here are a couple of Magic Kingdom area ideas to create something special for you and yours.
Disney's Countdown To Midnight
Walt Disney World always provides and array of special events for its guests to celebrate the New Year, and in 2017 Disney's Contemporary Resort is hosting a Disney Countdown to Midnight for $225 per Guest. While the cost of tickets is high, the event includes food & beverages from Disney's signature restaurants, a DJ, dancing, live musical entertainment, and a special viewing of the Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks. It also comes with a touch of breathing room.
NYE Specialty Dinner Reservations
With its coveted fireworks view and controlled access, the California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort is a good choice any time of the year, but New Year's Eve always feels a bit more magical to me. In 2017 the California Grill Gala is a Dine-around Spectacular with wine and cocktails included. Disney Characters are slated to make special appearances. $650 per Guest, Dinner Jackets are required.
California Grill isn't the only Disney Restaurant that pulls out all the stops for specialty diners on New Years Eve. Guests can find a line-up of dining events at some of Disney's finest restaurants, such as Victoria & Albert's, Monsieur Paul's, Narcoossee's, and La Hacienda San Angel at varying price points.
Rent A Magic Kingdom View Room
Disney' Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village Resort, and Contemporary Resort Hotels all offer rooms with a castle view. Book early and you can secure a spot for you and yours to have a private space to welcome in the coming year. Several spaces available from the Disney Villas offer enough space to entertain your family and friends, member favorites include Grand Villas at the Bay Lake Tower, and Polynesian Bungalows. Call Private Dining and a have a special meal brought right to you.
While these suggestions are too late for this year, it's never to early to start planning where you'll be to ring in 2018! Have you spent New Year's Eve at Walt Disney World? Share your holiday stories below.
