Steampunk-Inspired Maleficent Float to Join the Magic Kingdom’s ‘Festival of Fantasy Parade’

There are still a couple of months until the 'Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade' debuts at the Magic Kingdom, and Disney recently announced a new float for the parade.

The float will represent Sleeping Beauty's Maleficent as a 35-foot-long, 26-foot high Steampunk-inspired dragon.

The Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade is celebration of Fantasyland and each float will be created so that it appears as though the characters featured on the floats had a hand in creating them.

The Maleficent float was designed in partnership with Michael Curry, a Tony Award winner who also worked on the Tapestry of Nations parade at Epcot, and Finding Nemo: The Musical at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

The Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade will also feature floats with the Disney Princesses, Ariel and her undersea friends, Merida, Peter Pan and Wendy, and Rapuzel with Flynn Rider.

Kathys - Word on "the street" is that the floats have been moved to the Magic Kingdom parade staging area. I don't think it will be too much longer, my guess is that it will be up an running sometime in March.
