That disturbance you felt in the Force? It was just millions of Star Wars fans crying out on Facebook and Twitter when they heard that Episode VIII won't be released until December 15, 2017, seven very long months after its original release date of May 26, 2017.
All kidding aside, The Walt Disney Studios has in fact pushed back the release date of the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VIII to December 2017. The film is currently in pre-production (although filming was supposed to begin this month) and principal photography will begin in February in London.
Episode VIII is written and directed by Rian Johnson with Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman producing and J.J. Abrams as an executive producer.
Moving Episode VIII to December 2017 means the next installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will sail into theaters on May 26, 2017 (the original release date for Episode VIII). That film was originally slated for July 7, 2017.
Dead Men Tell No Tales stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, and Javier Bardem.
How do you feel about the changes in the release dates for these two films? Let us know in the comments.
