Disney recently celebrated the opening of the Walt Disney Theater at Orlando's new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts (DPAC).
The all-new Walt Disney Theater will be home to Broadway-style shows and musical performances. The theater is a 2,700 seat hall with tiered seating.
Disney was one of the largest investors in the DPAC, pledging $12.5 million to the center's development. George A. Kalogridis, president of the Walt Disney World Resort, was joined by local business and community leaders at the center's gala and Grand Premiere.
Disney cast members from Imagineering and Creative Entertainment have also donated in-kind services over the past seven years, including marketing materials, event production, and hosting fundraisers for the DPAC.
The gala performance "Broadway and Beyond" and the grand finale fireworks display was developed with the Disney Creative Entertainment team.
