It's finally official. The Walt Disney World Resort is banning selfie sticks from its theme parks effective June 30. Previously the selfie sticks had only been banned on certain theme park attractions but it seemed only a matter of time before they were banned completely.
Disney made the announcement official on Friday morning and the ban goes into effect next week. Selfie sticks will also be banned at Disneyland Resort on June 30, and Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland will ban them starting July 1.
Guests entering the Disney World theme parks will be checked for the selfie sticks during the routine bag checks at the park entrances. If guests are found to be carrying selfie sticks they will be asked to turn them over for pick-up later or return the sticks to their cars or hotel room.
Selfie sticks have been banned at museums and stadiums around the world. Currently none of the other Central Florida theme parks have banned selfie sticks.
What do you think about the selfie stick ban at the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks? Let us know in the comments.

I think that it is very sad that it only takes 1 idiot to ruin it for everyone that follows the rules

I'm actually thrilled about this one. I think that the problem was that there is actually more than "1 idiot." But yes, folks not using common sense tends to ruin the fun for all.
