"Walt & El Grupo" is a must-watch documentary for Disney fans. If you've ever wondered how "The Three Caballeros" and "Saludos Amigos" came to be in the 1940s, then this documentary is your answer.
In 1941, Walt Disney was called upon by the U.S. government to help with relations between the Americas. Why? There was growing concern about Nazi and Fascist influence in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and the rest of South America.
Disney hand-picked a mini studio to go on a the tour of South America -- you may recognize the names of Disney legends like Herb Ryman, Mary Blair, or Chuck Wolcott, who all took part.
What resulted was friendship and goodwill, and "Saludos Amigos" in 1942 and "The Three Caballeros" in 1944.
'Walt & El Grupo' is available on amazon.com and is currently available via Netflix streaming and DVD.
