D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind Celebrating Disney Attractions from the Past

If you're a fan of extinct Disney World attractions, the D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind event is one you don't want to miss.

D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is hosting the event that will honor Disney attractions of years gone by including 'If You Had Wings' and '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' through stories, vintage videos, and concept art.

The two-day event takes place November 22 and 23 at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney Animator Bill Justice Passes Away

Bill Justice, a Disney animator, passed away at a Santa Monica nursing home last Thursday. He had just turned 97. Fans might not recognize his name, but undoubtedly know some of the characters he helped bring to life by animation for Disney favorites.

He began his career with Disney in 1937 and went on to work on such classics as "Fantasia" and "Bambi." In fact, he animated Thumper, a beloved "Bambi" character, as well as fan favorites Chip and Dale. The opening Mickey Mouse March for the 1950's show "The Mickey Mouse Club" is also among his animation credits.

Profile of an Imagineer: Claude Coats

A background painter, color stylist, and concept designer, Claude Coats worked with The Walt Disney Company for over 50 years. Known as the "gentle giant" because of his towering stature -- he was 6 feet, 6 1/8 inches-tall -- Coats worked on some of Disney Studio's most iconic animated features and helped bring Disneyland, Disney World, and other parks to life.

Coats was born on January 17, 1913 in San Francisco, California and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1934. After studying at the Chouinard Art Institute Coats joined The Walt Disney Studios in 1935.

We got some great responses and the quick breakdown shows that Haunted Mansion is a favorite among many, garnering the most mentions. Splash Mountain came in second, with Mickey's Philharmagic, Space Mountain, and Thunder Mountain all tying for third.
