Balancing Family & Disney Meet Ups

Disney community Meet & Greets have become a staple of my Disney Vacations. I really look forward to heading down more than ever since I know that it will give me an opportunity to see local friends, and sometimes even ones from further abroad. But sometimes it's tricky to meet up with the folks I only get to see once in a while when I've got my family with me.

Do you go to fan community meet & greets? Does your family roll their eyes at you as you drag them along, or do you go alone? How many "meet ups" are too many when on a family vacation?

never done a meet and greet like that, but we have some friends that work in the park that we try to get together with, but even that can be tough. we always see them working but don't always have a chance to get together when they are not.

I met Lizzy_B in November while on the solo portion of my trip.

I have a friend who lives near Orlando who I got together with in November. She doesn't have park passes, so she came down to Pop for our visit. My friends, who I was at Disney with, and I had dinner. Then I headed back to the resort while they stayed in the park.

This might be weird but I actually "meet up" with family! My aunt and cousins and their kids like in Lakeland. They go to Disney often and whenever we are in town they meet us at Downtown Disney for dinner and then we usually hit a late night EMH. Sometimes they come to our resort and swim in our pool as well. They make it to Disney about twice a month and eat at DTD and hit the parks. SO jealous of that!

We have only ever done one meet up, and that was from another UK based forum, we met for the afternoon in DTD. But as there was just the 2 of us it was great, it was also good as we had become friends via facebook with a couple who were there, they also few home on the same day as us so we ended up having dinner together at the airport.

There is another meet up planned (from the same forum) for the day we leave WDW but as all of the family will be there I dont want to drag them along. I would have loved a meet up in the first week as its just the 2 of us then.... ah well!

We are going in May and I'm looking forward to meeting with a friend I only see a few times a year. My husband isn't crazy about it since Disney is "family time", but I'm trying to convince him!
