Best Disney Soundtrack?

I have had a couple discussions today with people about the many Disney movie soundtracks that are outstanding i.e. Aladdin, Lion King, Mulan, Beauty & the Beast, Little Mermaid, the list goes on, and on. SO, I wanted to put this question to the Disney experts that I know.

Which Disney movie has the BEST SOUNDTRACK?

I think the best has to be Toy Story 2. Jessie's song is so perfect for the piece.

I have to agree with Kris1971 that Mary Poppins is the best.

Beauty and the Beast still my fave. I like Little Mermaid too. And Jungle Book is great also.

oooooo so many good choices - a few of my favorites are Tarzan, Mulan, the Brad Paisley songs from Cars/Cars 2, .... Mary Poppins has always been a favorite too! So many more too!

I love a lot, and there's a lot of particular songs I absolutely love...Jessie's song from Toy Story 2, for instance, was already mentioned. But if we're going to go soundtracks altogether, the stand-out for me will always be The Lion King. It has so many amazing, memorable, stand-out songs--"Just Can't Wait to Be King", "Circle of Life", "Be Prepared", "Hakuna Matata," and one of my favorite songs of all time, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight".

That's why this discussion is so much fun! There are so many great individual songs, but deciding which overall soundtrack is the best is tough! One angle that someone took is by saying, "if you were to ask non-Disney insiders (like ourselves) which movies would they know more than one or two songs from?" Lion King definitely fits that bill.

I'm listening to a Disney Pandora station at work (I run a cool Radio Shack like that) and with 3 of the last 4 songs all being from Tarzan I am tempted to place my vote for that soundtrack. It's not one of the "classic" movies so it might not get the recognition that it deserves but I love the music from the movie. Also, one of my favorite soundtracks, although I dont by any means think its the "best", is Hercules.

The Lion King, no doubt. I still remember the very first time I saw it, in the theater, and the title screen came up right as "The Circle of Life" ended. Literally moved me to tears. I still find a lot of emotion in that sound track! Beauty and the Beast has a fun sound track (or maybe it's just been stuck in my head lately b/c I'm so excited to see the new Fantasyland).

Someone mentioned Pandora, has anyone found a Disney channel on Sirius XM?? that would make traffic a lot more bearable...

I'll agree with Lion King and Beauty and the Beast for best soundtracks. I am currently in love with the Tangled soundtrack (LOVE Mandy Moore!!) and Finding Nemo has some great songs, even though it's not a musical. "Just keep swimming" is a hit!

I LOVE the Hercules soundtrack as well. Its songs aren't necessarily the most recognizable to non-Disney fans, but I love that the songs really drive the narrative (LOVE the muses!) plus it has some really stellar stand-alone songs ("Go the Distance" and "I Won't Say I'm in Love"!).

This is hard! The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, and The Jungle Book are all favorites of mine. I don't think I can choose just one!
