City Walk Orlando

Has anyone spent time at at Universal's City Walk? Looking on line it seems to have some pretty chic bars and restaurants. Would it be worth leaving Disney property to head over for an adult "night on the town"? Is it better than Downtown Disney, or just different?

I think it's better than DTD for adults. Like you said, there's clubs and restaurants. Before we had our son, we always would go and spend a night there. Even with our son though, we try to visit because I'm a huge fan of Margaritaville. It has a really cool vibe at night.

I don't think its better than DTD...but its definitely fun. They don't have half as much shopping but they have a lot more restaurants. While the restaurants are good, you can only spend so much time eating...and when there isn't really a lot of shopping it wasn't really worth it to drive all the way over there from Disney. Also, you have to pay for parking, even if you're just going to Citywalk after the parks are closed.

So true! Forgot about the parking which is a big downfall! The shops are better at DTD!

OOohhh... Margaritaville sounds wonderful. I think Emeril has a place there too.

Would taking a cab be worth it?

Is this where the Hard Rock Cafe is? That would be the only reason I would go there.

Yes the Hard Rock is there!!!!!! DH and I did CW and Universal after our WDW trip one year. I kinda felt like CW was a let down from DTD and WDW. Just didn't have the same feel. We stayed at Hard Rock resort muchlove and we were able to walk to and from CW and Universal. While that was nice, I don't think we would leave WDW just to go back over to CW for a night. There are alot of restaurants and some nightclubs there, not many shops. It is definately an adult atmosphere type feel. For us though, I just can't justify leaving WDW when there is so much to see and do.

I LOVE Hard Rock!!!! We have one in Cleveland and we eat there at twice a year, sometimes more. We also try to visit as many Hard Rocks as we can because they are so neat! So, with that said, seeing and eating at this Hard Rock is worth the experience....if you are into that kind of thing. If you go to see the Hard Rock Cafe, I would suggest taking a walk to the Hard Rock Hotel and checking that out. It was pretty neat as well. We would head down to the really neat lounge there for a drink at night! I don't know about Margaritaville, I've only been to a Cheeseburger in Paradise which is JBs as well. That was fun and I'm sure MV is no different.

We also did the Nascar Cafe there. It was really crowded, the food wasn't that great and service was kinda slow. It didn't add up to all the hype.

We went to Universal one day on our last trip and really enjoyed City Walk. We ate at Margaritaville! YUM!!! And it seemed like there was a ton going on for the night life!! You do have to pay for parking, but Valet is only $5 more and its totally worth it!!!!

Given the choice between DTD and CW, I pick DTD. We used to go to CW occasionally because they waived parking after a certain time (7 or 8 I think) but they stopped doing that. I haven't been back since...I can't fathom paying for parking just to eat and shop. If I were going for a performance, maybe.

Emeril's can be hit or miss. I'm not sure I'd make the trip over for it.

I wouldn't necessarily say that CW is better than DTD, just different. Adults can fun at either place, but if you've never been to CW before, I would say splurge on the cab and check it out at least once. The Hard Rock Cafe has been consistenly good every time I've been (and I've been quite a few times). The place is huge so there has always been plenty of seating when I've been there, even at the bars... there are several. In fact, I believe that the Hard Rock at CW is the largest one in the world. Margaritaville is good if you've never been before, but can get quite crowded with long wait times. I've never been to that particular Emeril's, so I can provide any insight on that one. If you're into kareoke, there's a kareoke club at CW that has a full backup band to sing along with. I don't remember the name of it and I'm not sure if that's still there or not though.

We're planning on eating all of our meals out on the City Walk on the days we go to Universal (Margaritaville and Emeril's? Yum!) as a nice break from traditional "park food" but I don't know if it's worth a sepearte trip over from WDW just for the CW.

I would say not, but we're really not into Doing the bar scene.

The latin quarter restaurant there was very tasty! I was craving some good spicy food halfway through our trip. Margaritaville is also fun for some music and relaxation! I still like DTD better, but I have no basis I am just biased and I'm okay with that!

I have a feeling we will be spending and afternoon/evening over there when we go down for our kid free anniversary trip. Mase wants to go see TNA wrestling which is filmed there and we plan on doing the dining plan but going to Cali Grill one night which will take two dining credits so we can just pay out of pocket this night and get something to eat at one of the restaurants at City Walk
