Universal Studios or IOA?

We are planning our Disney Trip in March and I origianlly planned on going to IOA the day we get there (we'd get to the park about 1) and then go to US one day during the week. Now that I am in planning mode and after looking at the US park, I am wondering if it is even worth going there. Should we just plan on going to IOA one day while we are there and skipping US all together?? I have been there probably 5 or 6 times and my husband has been once. IOA is a must do because we want to go to Harry Potter. Opinions......

I've never been to either one - when we go to Orlando, we want to do Disney, Disney, Disney. But since I'll be travelling with sister and family who are doing the Universal parks, I'll visit both for the first time soon. I researched the parks, and I wouldn't skip a Disney day to go to either one. But it'll be fun hanging with sis and family.

We did both in one day, we hit the major thigns but we didn't get to everything, the parks actually closed at 7 the day we were there so I am sure you could do both.

I would still do both. We will be doing both parks in one day very soon but the plan is to spend a lot of time in the Harry Potter area. If we don't do everything it's not a big deal to us, we are just excited to be able to go. You can find really good deals on 1 day/2 park or even 2 day/2 park tickets if you look around.

I'd reckon on a day each to do and see everything. Most people miss things like the Horror Make-Up show (at US) which I thought was really cool. And you may want to ride things like The Mummy or The Simpsons more than once to make sure you've noticed everything.

We have always done both in one day but to really make the most of it you could definitely give each park a day!

If I could only do one I'd do IoA, but if I'm going to fit in Universal on a trip, I'd try to do both. We haven't been in forever, so I'm really anxious to see them again. Can't miss Harry Potter though if you can only do one.

IOA if for no other reason than visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It is so worth it!

you can easily do both in one day. I used to have a season pass there, and we'd go all the time. but I wouldn't just get one for one day because you will quickly run out of things to do unless the lines are outrageous.

Not too far away!!! Can't wait to hear what you think! Are you going to do Universal first to go to Wizarding World? We went to Universal for our 2nd park late in the day and it was so crowded!

I was thinking Universal and then IOA, but everyone says to go to WWOHP first... maybe we will just do WWOHP, then Universal and then go back to IOA... who knows..

Last Feb. was a birthday trip and the one request (after the savannah view room at AKL) was to see Harry Potter at Universal. Scandalous! But it was for a 40th birthday and no request could be refused . . . So got one day passes, took a taxi to be there at opening, and hustled with the rest of the early birds to WWoHP.

It was fun - small - and so interestingly themed. Rode the rides, drank Butterbeer, bypassed the line at the wand shop, bought some candy and a cauldron cake. . . Took lots of pictures, and mailed a post card by owl post.

All of this took about three hours, and as we sat sipping Butterbeer in the shade of Hogwart's, watching the crowd building, we contemplated where we'd eat lunch. We had planned on spending most of the day, you see. I'd done my homework and had a couple suggestions, but lo and behold, Ms. Birthday piped up and said. . .

"Let's go to Downtown Disney and have lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express. I am over this place."

And we were. Glad we went. Aren't remotely interested in going back. Universal just isn't Disney.

I'm originally from outside of dayton, oh, grew up going to king's island, and have had an annual pass for longer than i can remember!

We really enjoy rollercoasters and thrill rides. US and IOA are no WDW, but we still enjoy them for 1 or 2 days. Our last day of our upcoming trip will be spent at IOA. I love harry potter world. The castle ride is amazing. And my hubby is a big comic fan, so he enjoys marvel land. I heard they recently updated or redid the spiderman ride.
