Cruise & and then a trip to the parks

So Im ready to plan our next Disney vacation!! I just dont know when it will take place (the whole trying to have a baby thing leaves all our planning for anything on hold until ??). But I want to go ahead and look into prices so that I have an idea of how much to save. We are definately doing a cruise, but I would really like to have at least a couple of days at the parks as well.

I know that Zapper just did a cruise/park combo so I'd love his input! And anyone else too! What is the best way to do the trip, best time (I really want to go to Disney around Christmas the next time we go), better to do a short cruise and then a few days at the park, or go all out with a 7 day cruise plus a few days at the park?? and do they have packages that include a cruise, park tickets, and resort stay??

Anywho, going to start at least putting all the pieces together so when I do get ready to book I know what I'm doing!

I would say if you wanna do the park at least close to Christmas... go between the 1st and the 14th. Usually less crowded before it gets SUPER NUTS. Because Disney during Christmas in my opinion is not very magical. BUT.... your at the mercy of whenever the cruise is sailing.

One of my friends went on a Disney cruise as her graduation present from her parents and they did a few days in the parks and staying at a resort before they went on the cruise. She said that her parents told her that they got a big discount on parks & resorts by buying the cruise, but she didn't know if that was true or if they were just trying to make her feel better about how much money they were spending on her. The only way to really know for sure is to call I guess, you never know what they can do!

The way I see it though, is if you're gonna cruise out of Canaveral, you're only an hour from Orlando...so you might as well go for at least one day (park hoppers!)!

I did a land/sea and loved it. Though I know many people do the parks after the cruise, I did parks before the cruise and loved it. You need to be in town a day before your cruise anyway (to make sure flight delas don't have you missing your cruise) so why not spend them at the Park! Plus, the laid back and relaxed tone of the cruise is a fantastic way to relax after running around the parks! I thought that our 3 day cruise way WAY too short.

Atlantic Hurricane Season ends November 30th, so that would put you into the holiday decorations at WDW. Smile

We are doing 7 nights at the beach club and then 3 night cruise later this year (we are then staying in a villa for another 14 nights Wink ) so i know what you meant about wanting to do a cruise as well as some park days. I would also agree about disney at christmas, the beginning of Dec is super quiet! I have been nov/early dec before and most rides were walk ons. Have you thought about going in Nov? Little bit warmer and no crowds Smile xxxx

I guess I worded it wrong, I meant around Christmastime, so the week after Thankgiving to a couple of weeks before Christmas. Has anyone been on a cruise this time of year? Just wondering if it is even warm enough in the carribean to go this time of year.

Emmaanne,

I did a combination Disney cruise/land vacation in early December of both 2006 and 2007. I had to make separate deposits. It was part of an informal, international gathering of Disney fans called Mousefest. A four-night Bahamas cruise, with stops in Nassau (New Providence island) and Castaway Cay (pronounced KEY; Disney's private island) preceded my stay in the World. My dates were as follows:

2006: December 3-7 cruise; 7-12 Beach Club.
2007: December 2-6 cruise; 6-11 All Star Movies; 11-16 Animal Kingdom Lodge.
