Who doesn't love having tea in the afternoon, with light sandwiches, pastries, and other delights? WE DO!!!
It was a bit of a gamble for us - the last time we stopped in for Tea, the service was terrible, even though the Lounge was not full. But we really wanted the break from the hustle and bustle of the parks, and it was our last day . . . and if we had afternoon tea, we could finish our trip wandering World Showcase and grazing.
So - we were seated about 30 minutes early, if you can believe that. I don't know why I checked at the podium, but I did. We'd done the Disney Bus and Monorail shuffle, hoping, actually, to have a chance to sit in the lobby of the Grand Floridian and relax, maybe get lucky and have the grand piano showing off!! But we took the early seating - leaving us a bit more time for the Epcot grazing part later!!
The menu has several 'package' options, or you can order individual elements to match your tastes. You also can select the type of tea you would like - and you get a pot of that choice, or two pots if you slug back the tea like a sailor.
We each ordered a different variety of tea - mine was called Eros, and is a citrus vanilla black tea blend. Superb. Kim had a green tea blend that had essence of pear. It was just to her liking. For the refreshments part, we each ordered a different 'package' and then shared all the deliciousness they brought to us. I had the traditional Grand Tea which came with tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, and either freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle. YUM!!!
Kim ordered The Princess Kate Tea which brought her potted shrimp followed by a selection of cheeses, a seasonal fruits, cheddar cheese biscuits, a scone, jam tart, and pastries. I also got to drink some sparkling wine!! WooHoo!!
See? We had a LOT to share - and it was WONDERFUL!!
OMG - CHEESE!!
We both had the scones, jam, clotted cream . . . Didn't have to share this. I wouldn't have anyway. SERIOUSLY . . .
Tea Sandwiches, an onion tart (Onion Tart?) and a bit of pork roulade (chopped meat for the biscuit!)
Pastries - LOVE that nutty little chocolate Mickey!!
English Trifle - The absolute BEST thing at the table. Jam, cake, whipped cream. Layers and Layers.
I know that some you may not think this to be a worthwhile event - but let me tell you . . . We were NOT disappointed in the least. The service was outstanding, the tea was great, and the courses we chose to share were wonderful. It all made us feel so civilized . . . Go Do This!!!
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
