Disneyland accommodations

I am looking for advice on hotels around Disneyland. I thought about renting dvc points but it's not really in the budget. Previous trips we stayed at the DLH (too$$$) and the Sheraton park (a bit to far). Right now considering the Annabella and the carousel. Any advise on where go go or where to avoid would be great. I know this is Wdw for grownups but I figured enough of us go to DL as well.

We have stayed at the Best Western Anaheim Inn which is across the street and a couple driveways to the right. We have also stayed at the Fairfield Inn which is across the street and a few driveways to the left. I feel that the Best Western Anaheim Inn is closer than the Fairfield. But either way, its like a walk to the bus stop for me. The closest to the crosswalk is the Best Western Park Place. I think we will try that one next time, just because it is the closest. I am almost positive that it sits right at the crosswalk, not 100% though. I can't remember if there is another one closer.

Both the Fairfield and the Anaheim Inn were very nice. And about the same price. At the Fairfield, we were directly across from Space Mountain and we were able to watch the fireworks from the room. Trip Advisor has some great information on what to ask for and what to avoid for the best view at the Fairfield.

My past few trips I've stayed at Disney Hotels, but I have fantastic memories of the Candy Cane Inn which is a Boutique hotel in walking distance. It's maintained a "Good Neighbor" rating for as long as I can remember going to DLR, which is pretty far back.

I stayed at the Annabella for the one night DL trip I did after a friend's wedding in LA. It was clean and the price was right. I didn't use any of the amenities (pool, etc), but it was really close to DL and my room was a decent size. I'd recommend it!!

Yes, they are scary looking. And a lot of them back up to the interstate. DL is right off the freeway. I think Quality Inn has the freeway on one side. The Best Western Anaheim Inn and the Fairfield were both nice Good Neighbor Hotels. You can see the front gate from the Best Western Anaheim Inn. But, if they are Good Neighbor hotels, then I believe they have to meet a certain standard. So you will probably be ok with any of them. BUT certainly use tripadvisor to help you make your decision. I do. Like I said before, I am really excited to try BW Park Place next trip out though. IF I don't stay on Disney property there.

If you do end up staying there, you will have to let me know what you think. It sits right on the crosswalk, basically, and I and just intrigued by being that close to the crosswalk. I don't understand my fascination with it, the other 2 places we have stayed are not that much further. There is just something about that location that I HAVE TO HAVE IT!!! laugh

Actually, wherever you stay, I would be interested to see what you think. We make it out there now about every other year.

We live on Vancouver Island, so we will be going to Dl way more often then WDW, its only a 2.5 hour flight from Vancouver vs a full day of travel. i hope to do DL once a year, and WDW every 4-5 years. Now if DL had a a decent dining plan like WDW we might stay on site more often.

I agree that DL is lacking in a dining plan, however their buffeteria style restaurants are the BOMB! It's an amazing value to get the table service quality food at WDW Counter service prices. I wish that WDW had more counter service restaurants that were like that.
