Disney's Art of Animation Resort

I hadn't heard about this until now. Sounds kinda cool.

Coming soon: a new Walt Disney World Resort! Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel, a Disney Value Resort hotel, will draw its inspiration from 4 classic Disney animated films: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Disney*Pixar's Finding Nemo and Cars.

Booking dates for this family-friendly resort, scheduled to open Summer of 2012, have not been announced yet.

Isn't it great! I love how they will now have a value resort filled with family suites. They needed a more affordable place to stay for larger groups.

I'm looking forward to the Finding Nemo building.

How about you?

Kind of makes me feel bad that there will never be a Legendary Years now.

Sounds great, I would love to see what they will do in the Lion King section as that's my favourite Disney film!

Seriously though, a whole section dedicated to Cars?! CARS?! That has to be the worst Pixar film sarcastic

I loved Cars, so will the family's with small boys who aren't into princesses and mermaids.

It's a shame the Legendary Years will now never see the light of day though. I wonder if Pop Century should be renamed Pop 1/2 Century?

Wow that is a GREAT idea - wish there would be beauty and the beast...but I would SO stay at the Little Mermaid and go around humming songs from the movie the entire trip!

What do you think of the thought process behind so many suites with kitchens? I mean, if most Disney visitors don't have cars, and do have dining plans...who's cooking? Smile

Fair enough. Most people I know who saw Cars were fairly disappointed by it so it just surprised me that they chose Cars over other Pixar films is all - however obviously it must have been more popular and well received than I realised! I guess perhaps there does need to be a little more to balance out all the princesses Smile It's not that I thought Cars was BAD, it's just Pixar has set the bar pretty high for itself with films like Toy Story and Wall-E, whereas I thought Cars was pretty mediocre.

I'd like to see what they would do with a Monster Inc section!

yeah I wondered that too...maybe they will have a relatively well-stocked shop in the resort?

I love the idea of a Monster's Inc section; they could have done a lot with that! But I wonder what the general grounds would have looked like... Monstropolis? The Laugh Factory? Hmm...

That would have been brilliant! Why in the world don't they come to us for advice??? I mean, I get the Cars thing - boys and all - but wow, Monsters Inc was so good. As far as Cars go though...they'll probably borrow some from Cars land going up at DCA at Disneyland. That might be another reason why they picked Cars over Monsters Inc.
