Eleven Countries...Pick One Out...

Ok folks...I'am in a silly mood today...I've just watched Saturdays Kitchen ( A cooking show ) and there was a section on Cantonese food..A delicacy was on offer..A Rabbits head deep fried. eek Whit!!...Yuch...Anyway, here's my question..Once again Disney have given you 10 meal vouchers for a free meal for two..You can only use each voucher at one countries restaurants, but must leave one country out...Which country would you omit from your world showcase food experience.?..After much perusing the countries and their menus,I'd leave out China..Not because of the deep fried bunny head,I'am just not a huge fan of Chinese cuisine..Over to yourselves... waiting

I'd leave out the United States, because I live in the U.S. and can dine on local foods anytime.

Pass on The American Adventure. Vowed years ago, Liberty Inn never again.

I would also pass on the 'Merican showcase because it doesn't do justice to the huge variety of food available around the states.

I'm still working my way through the restaurants in World Showcase so my answer is based on the one's I've tried.

I would omit Canada. I didn't get the "wow" factor from Le Cellier that I've gotten from other signature dining restaurants.

Yeah, probably China for me, as well. The Chinese food at Epcot is Americanized from my experience at Lotus Blossom Cafe. Then again, I've always said I was spoiled with good Chinese food back home so for me, why should a Taiwanese-American like myself want to eat Chinese food in Disney World where my understanding Florida probably is not the best state that prepares and cooks that cuisine? Don't get me wrong, I admit I do have some favorite Chinese-American dishes but there are definitely better Chinese places in my neck of the woods.

I would have to say I would leave out france, we have eaten there twice and both times we had a bad meal

I would have to pick China. We ate there once and it was not very good. It was very Americanized.

I would skip USA too.

There are several I would willingly skip, but tied for first place in the "why bother" category for me are USA (It's not special. I live here.) and China (I used to like Nine Dragons, but our most recent meal was not as good as what I can get from my local Chinese delivery place.)

While we're here, let's flip this topic on its head - You only have three vouchers. Where do you go?

I'd go to Biergarten in Germany (OMG I love that place), Akershus in Norway (sans princesses--I just like the food), and probably...Via Napoli in Italy.

Ok Alicemouse since I only have 3 vouchers I would pick Chefs de France (France), Via Napoli (Italy), and any of the places in Mexico.

Via Nap, Le Cellier, and Tutto Italian- is that legal?

Not to mention the fact that it's not even good American food.

That's a bit harder. I'd probably skip anyplace that's similar to what we eat here in the U.S.A., so that eliminates Canada and England as well as the American pavilion. We can get decent or better Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, German, and Italian close enough to home, so they're also out.

I'd probably try Restaurant Akershus because the closest Scandinavian that I'm aware of is the cafeteria at the Ikea north of Baltimore.

We also have no Moroccan/North African/Middle Eastern cuisine nearby, but I'd skip Restaurant Marrakesh and try the new Spice Road.

And then I'd try Monsieur Paul.

Pick 3: Biergarten, Rose and Crown, & somewhere in France

CHINA. I really, really don't care for Chinese food at all. I don't care for Japanese either but I can handle some Hibachi from time to time.

And if I only had three vouchers, I'd go to Biergarten, Via Napoli, aaaaaaaaand I guess Chefs de France? I've never eaten at any of them, but those three interest me the most of the table service restaurants in the World Showcase! And I don't want to waste these magic vouchers for quick service. silly

I'd also skip China. I can get Chinese food on the way home from work. And while I can also get American food (or heck, I can whip it up from whatever's in the fridge right now), They do offer those delightful jalapeno cheese stuffed pretzels and I can make a meal of those.

For the 3 vouchers, assuming beverages are part of my decision, I'd do Germany for Biergarten, UK for Rose & Crown, and probably Italy for via Napoli. We have good Mexican, Middle Eastern and Japanese restaurants in my area, as well as a local tavern owned by a guy from Buffalo who puts a bunch of "Canadian" specialties on his menu (poutine, anyone?), but it's hard to get a semi-authentic Neapolitan pizza and forget getting a good spaetzle. I've learned how to make my own Cider and Blacks, but they are not the same!

King Fergus

Well Alicemouse...My 3 vouchers would be used at France...Japan...and Mexico....As far as restaurant choices I would have to close my eyes and just pick one from each country..

I always skip American Pavilion food wise. Why are we limited to the World Showcase? I love the Coral Reef and would use a voucher for it along with Le Celliar and maybe for Mexico. If my third one has to be in the worldshowcase, I would also choose Germany since I haven't eaten there yet.

I would leave out Morocco. We go in to check it out every time we are there, but it just does not appeal to me at all.

For the Pick 3 - I'd be following The Colonel. clapping

That's a tough one. I'll go with Tangierine Cafe in Morocco because I can't get Moroccan food in my hometown and I love their lamb platter, Biergarten in Germany because I've never eaten German food before, and for a third, that's tough. I'll probably go for Rose and Crown because I can't find a good spot in my neck of woods that serves great British food.

I will continue skipping the American pavilion until they get real with our food. We have amazing food options and I feel that an easy decision was made. Regionalized offerings like from food and wine would be nice. With only 3 vouchers I would go with chefs de France, tappan edo, and lunch at Norway so I could get school bread and those awesome sandwiches we ate there twice this last trip.

The two of the three I would pick would be Via Napoli and Le Chefs de France. I would use the third on a place I haven't eaten yet. I would pick Restaurant Marrakesh.

I would bypass the uk, I live 40 mins from London and the best fish and Chios in the world at Poppy's, bricklane. Also I don't drink.

For three to pick it would be. Japan, France and Mexico I think

I'd skip Canada! As a gluten free vegan every other country does a much better job of meeting my dietary needs.

Agreed- let's make it an honorary American Pavilion restaurant!

I'd leave out the American Pavillion with China as a close second. I really am not a fan of bad Chinese food. Good Chinese food, yes please! Bad Chinese food I just can't stomach.

If I had 3 vouchers I'd do Chefs de France, Le Cellier, and Tutto Gusto because they're 3 I've always wanted to try and are a bit on the pricier side, so if Disney's paying it's the perfect opportunity!
