English sweets/ chocolate - question?

Hi everyone

Trust me this is sort of Disney related, I am doing a FE on our cruise in August and I wanted to include some English sweets. I remember talking to people in WDW last year and I kept hearing about how they loved certain sweets and chocolate bars from over here but either could not not get them easily or were really expensive.

What English sweets do you like that fall into that category?

Thanks in advance

Brin you're right. We can no longer get Cadbury English chocolates. Something about the competition since the US has their own recipes for specific items or something like that. Being from very near the US/Canadian border I sometimes get them in Canada at a little English store I know of. I can pick up a few in Canadian grocery stores too, but I don't know if those are English or a Canadian recipe.

I personally am a fan of Aero and Coffee Crisp. Nom nom nom!

Years ago when my american cousins came to visit, they bought loads and loads of fruit pastilles (Rowntrees?), so i'd suggest those and of course proper cadburys chocolate awesome

I'm really glad you posted this, I was going to take some sweets with me when we are over later in the year so I can get in the good books with the staff at our hotel and was wondering what sweets would be best.

What about Galaxy chocolate, is it available in the US? It is my most favourite......... mind you, Reece's peanut butter cups come a close second (my suitcase is always packed full of the on the way home!!)

Reece's is an American sweet, when I was little my dad used to bring them back from the local army camp that had U.S military stationed there.

It's cos Hershey's has the licence to things like Kit-Kat, Snickers, etc. They complained that the colouring of the packets were too similar to their versions (which were copied from the English versions!!) and caused 'confusion' so got the competitions department to simply ban the originals...because the colours are so similar and there's no identification on the front, the only way to work out who's made them is from the back where it says made under licence by Hershey's. Over in England, though, Coffee Crisp is Toffee Crisp...I think!

Sorry Brinbunny, I didn't word that very well. I know Reece's are a U.S. brand, I was just showing my love for them too muchlove

I think some places in the UK stock them now but my wee home town is pretty rural so our shopping choices are limited, hence the suitcase full that comes home with me every trip!!

We have Reece's and Hershey's in our American-themed restaurant at work...Reece's are ok - Hershey's taste really chalky!

Just a heads up for y'all so you have your American lingo down...Reese's is spelled with an S here. Smile Is it spelled with a C over there?? It wouldn't surprise me with the different spellings of things.

And are Coffee Crisp and Toffee Crisp different? Coffee Crisp actually tastes like coffee.

Sorry Tink, stupid autocorrect It thought I meant the name Reece rather than the yummy that is Reese waiting

We don't have Coffee crisp only Toffee here... To be honest there are not a huge amount of coffee flavoured sweets that I can think of, which is a shame as I love coffee.

Galaxy is a competitor to Cadbury bars of chocolate, in my opinion it's creamier and smoother than dairy milk (they market it on being 'silky' in texture) I like it but find it melts too quickly and I like harder chocolate so eat more dairy milk.

I totally assumed that Coffee Crisp would be there too! Maybe it's only Canadian?? Think Kit Kat bar but with a hint of coffee. It's like a delicious mocha candy bar. I wish you could try it!
