FLower and Garden

Ok, so I have convinced the JBK girls (the girls I work with) to go and we have booked for a short weekend. One is a first timer and the other hasn't been in about 30 years! Only one park day! eek eek eek

Here is my basic plan at this point... I am NOT a park hopper but with only one day I want to maximize our time. What I am thinking is...

Park at a monorail hotel or MK EALRY and take the monorail to EPCOT for rope drop... Do as much as we can first thing in FW then be in WS for 11:00 opening and food booths.

After stuffing ourselves to a point of no return, head to MK for fireworks. And hopefully if they are open late enough the bar at Sanaa for nightcaps and bread service!!!!!!!!

Do you think this is doable???? What is the usual Wishes time for the end of April?

We will hit DTD Sunday morning before heading out. Hopefully a few more walls will be down by then and I know the parking garage will be open!

I am already so excited about this I can't stand myself. I can't wait to show them what I love. One of them is the one who has questioned me so many times about why we go to Disney so much and the fact that she is going to go has me over the moon!!!!!!

No not usually as many booths but still a lot Wink too many to eat at all in one day if you ask me. You're gonna have 1 fun filled day Laughing out loud

Could you go to Sanaa the night before and have the bread service?

We probably won't make it in time unless we can convince the doc to have a short clinic that day. We normally get out between 5 and 6 on Fridays.... waiting

I am going to try to convince him to work a half day so that we can get on the road a little earlier! crossfingers crossfingers

Epcot and MK in one day is definitely doable! DH and I do this all the time on our weekend trips. But we do it the opposite way that you are going to do it. We start at MK, although never early enough for rope drop because I can't get out of bed in time eek
We spend a few hours in MK, we head to Epcot around 1-2pm and we eat lunch snacking around WS for a few hours. We hate FW, so we only go there to ride Soarin and TT, and then get out of FW. Then we go back to MK 5-6pm and spend the rest of the night in MK.

In April, MK is usually open late. You could tentatively plan on Wishes at 10pm and the park to close between 11 and 12am. In April, MK sometimes has EMH as late as 3am.

If I were in your position taking a first timer, who "doesn't get" why you love Disney, I would do the two parks~MK-Epcot-MK.
For me, MK is the most magical park. It is the park where I feel the most nostalgic about childhood and the "most Disney." She could start with the adorable MK rope drop show, walk down Main Street with fewer people and THE Castle would be her first introduction to Disney World. Then she would get to experience MK during the day AND night. MK has such a different look and feel from day to night, I would want a first timer to experience it both ways. If she doesn't "get Disney" after that, she will NEVER "get Disney."

But that is my completely unwarranted opinion laugh Whatever you do, have a great time!

When we went to Flower and Garden last spring, we found about half as many booths as at Food and Wine. We still found lots of good things to try without feeling overwhelmed by all the choices, so perfect if you're just going once.

I checked right now, they are showing MK closing at midnight! WHEW... One of the girls is Italian, has lived in the states a few years so she really doesn't have the attachment to WDW as many of us do. But she is excited and I think I will win her over! Kerry has been before but it was years ago. So she will kinda know what to expect. I really wish we had a couple days but I am going to pack in as much as I can in one day!

I agree with Annie, try and go to MK a couple of hours in the morning if you can before heading over to WS for F&G. MK is completely different during the day! awesome

I've been doing some research about the Flower & Garden festival since we are probably headed to Disney in April. Ken is headed to Miami for a work conference, so I'm tagging along and since our annual passes are still good, it makes sense to go when we are so close.
There are food booths, but definitely not as many as F&W, and there is also a concert series, or at least there has been in the past. I believe Disney comes out with more details in January.

Yea, I know there aren't as many booths but enough so we don't overeat too much! LOL I can't wait for more details to come out.

I took one of the coaches at our gym for the first time in her life (she's 65) last summer. She's originally from Russia and I made it known to the rest of the group that for her benefit, our first ride would be IASW. She fell in love at that moment.

Oh I love it!!!!

I am actually kind of nervous about taking them. I keep thinking what if they hate it and they are mad at me after LOL. Then I think HOW COULD THEY BE???? And then I worry again. I'm a BIG KID at heart much bigger than most of my friends and I just worry about it......
