Gender Reveal at MK

Good morning everyone!

I'm pregnant with my first child and my husband and I are planning a trip to Disney World in a couple weeks. While we're there, we're planning to do our baby's gender reveal in a picture at the Magic Kingdom to send to our family and friends as a fun way to announce the gender of our child. Originally our plan was to do a picture with Mickey with a banner saying "It's a Girl" or "It's a Boy", but since we found out the gender last week and still have a couple more weeks to go, we have built up alot of anticipation among our family and friends and I wonder if that is a little underwhelming! Does anyone have any tips or advice as to how to make our gender reveal as magical as possible? If it helps - we are expecting a little princess! Thank you! mickey

Rachel

Sheesh in my day all we did was pick up a phone and tell someone. Are you putting together a video or just taking a picture?

I would do Minnie or a Princess for a girl. You could buy a small tiara and have the princess presenting it to you in the picture.

If you're putting together a video you could go to different face characters and have them guess the gender, take some video of pink or blue Disney Balloons, have the Dapper Dans sing a song, maybe some girly attractions then edit it all together with Minnie/Princess and the gender reveal sign.

If you wanted to send out the reveal announcement via MMS (group text on your phones) you could send photo "hints" throughout the day. Send a a couple of girl-ish picture hints throughout the day (flowers, wishing well, the castle, pink balloons) before finally sending a reveal picture.

I think photo hints throughout the day followed by the official announcement is a great idea.

But I would throw in some "boyish" stuff just to keep them guessing. For example, take a photo by the Buzz Lightyear animatronic inside the ride in Tomorrowland and ask, "Boy or girl?" Then one with a princess, then one with something at Pirates of the Caribbean, then Minnie. And so on.

I had a caricature done, not for the reveal, it had already been revealed, but she did a great job with it. It was not one from the book, she made it up and has my big ole belly in it and it says It's a Girl, and kick kick on the portrait. She drew me in the clothes that I was wearing and everything.

With DD#2, I was hoping for something similar, and instead she picked a pic out of the book and had me barely clothed in a bikini and didn't put my big ole belly in it. DH had to ask her to make the belly big, and to put clothes on me! And, the pic is HEINOUS! But it's the only one I have at WDW while prego with #2, so I will keep it.

After reading your post, I think I would have loved to have used these to reveal! Even though I didn't go for that appt until the day AFTER we got back from WDW with DD#2.

Photo hints is a good idea too!!

Hello Rachel and Welcome!!!...and congratulations on your princess...I like Kristen's suggestion of having a princess hand you a tiara while your husband is standing right behind you holding a whole bunch of pink Disney balloons...your gender reveal sounds like it's going to be so much fun!

Congrats from another first time mommy! We're having a little princess, too! I LOVE the idea of having your favorite Disney princess presenting you with a crown for your upcoming little princess! Be sure to come back with photos on what you've decided!
