So I'll be the first to say it. What in the world is going on with this promotion?

It's a BIG nothing. I watch the webcast of it and I wondered the same thing
BOR-ING. (Wait, am I allowed to say that as the admin of the board? Yep. BOR-ING.)
I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but it seems almost like someone in the back rooms said "Hey, social media and crowdsourcing are really big right now...let's do something with them!"

Bring back the year of a million dreams - it was brilliant marketing. They should just keep that a permanent promotion!

I second that TD!
I'm sure they've held back several of the key pieces of information on this promo. They're just "teasing" us. There has to be more to it...
"Year of a Million Dreams" really was the coolest one. "Celebrate Today" is pretty lame IMO.
"Year of a Million Dreams" was basically: You have a reasonable chance of getting something pretty good (like a fastpass) and a small chance of getting something amazing.
"Celebrate Today" is: We'll give you a crappy free dessert at the restaurants.
"Let the Memories Begin" so far: We'll let you watch someone else's slides.
I'd hate the see what the next one will be at that pace.
Honestly Cdub - you nailed exactly what I thought the problem was. Who wants to watch other people's pictures? Yeah, there might be some cute kids or the occasional funny picture, but on the whole, no one wants to watch a bunch of families they don't know posing with Mickey.

I don't even want to look at vacation pictures of people I KNOW, much less those I don't.
I like to read the stories...::shrug:: specially the engagement ones (*~*~*wishes..maybe someday!!*~*~*)

I definitely think those would be more interesting than most people's stories at WDW.
I watched the TV commercial today for the first time and got teary

I just read a good article about it on DisZine: http://www.diszine.com/content/disney-parks-%E2%80%9Cbig-announcement%E2%80%9D-is-%E2%80%9Clet-the-memories-begin%E2%80%9D-2011-campaign
I still don't like it.
I doubt Disney will let it be as unimpressive as it sounds. I bet there's more to come.
