Fun thread! I'm Kristen and my DH is Claude. I'm the Disney freak, and he's the wonderful man who puts up with it. My first trip to Disney was actually my senior class trip in 1989 (and for those of you doing the math that makes me 42). Even though we didn't get to do everything on the class trip, I fell in love with what I did see and as soon as I graduated from college and got a job, I planned a trip back to the world. That's when I really flipped for WDW. I've tried to get back as often as possible since then. A few times with my hubby (once when he was just a boyfriend) and a few times with my family (parents, brother, sister in-law and niece and nephew). I've been so excited to introduce WDW to my niece and nephew. We've gone twice so far, once when my niece was 5 (and all about the princesses) and my nephew was 2 and then again when my nephew turned 5 and my niece was 8. I'd like to get them back every few years if possible.

Claude and I will be married for 5 years this coming March. We were 37 when we got married (first marriage for each of us). We live in a little town in SE PA called Red Hill (its about 1/2 way between Philadelphia & Allentown). No kids but we do have a big fluffy Old English Sheep Dog named Willow. She is the love of our lives. She recently turned 10 and has lost her vision, but she amazes me every day with how brave she is and how well she's adjusting. I currently work as a Field Reimbursement Manager for Genentech, and I'm coming up on my one year anniversary with the company. Prior to Genentech, I spent 19 years working for Merck (the last nine years as an Associate Director of Patient Access Programs). Claude is an Industrial Engineer at Merck. He's coming up on his 20 year mark. Claude is not a big traveler (he hates to fly) but he does indulge me with one major vacation a year. This year's trip is our Disney Cruise in October. It'll be our first Disney cruise (but not our first cruise, we did Royal Caribbean in 2001), and given that its a 4 day cruise in October, I managed to talk him into spending one day at the F&W fest in Epcot when we get off the ship! I can't wait!!! I've been a member of this forum since 2011 and I have to say, I love it! I have never joined any groups on the internet, but when I found a group of adults who love Disney as much as I do, well I just had to sign up. I'm so glad I did. I've learned so much and met so many wonderful people!

I guess it's my turn. I warn you I'm really bad at doing the bio thing.

I'm Kristen, and I turned 42 this year. I grew up in a southern family living in Illinois, where two generations ahead of me were already big Disney fans. We went to Disney World or Disneyland at least twice a year, sometimes more. I can't remember a time in my life that Disney wasn't playing a huge part in it. I've lost track of the number of times I've been on a Disney vacation, it's well over 100. I joined the Navy at 17 and lived briefly in Florida and Virginia before spending 7 years in California, which I love dearly, my oldest kids are California natives. I got married, and divorced, then moved back to Illinois where I worked in the hospitality industry as a front desk manager for Marriott, and then for Starbucks. I was a corporate secretary in there for awhile too. I have also spent a lot of time running non-profit groups. I am very good at organizing people and planning events, but I despise the politics that comes along with it. I'm a Mac user and have been online participating in various Disney communities since since 1995.

I got remarried to my husband Geordon who I have been with for 15 years now. He wasn't a Disney fan when we got married, but he came around after just one trip. I have three awesome kids ages 14, 19 (next month) and 20. My kids are all also huge Disney fans - pixie dust flows through our veins. We're a very tight knit group. We also have a room mate that we share the house with, and who I frequently travel with as well.

Let's see - I have champagne taste and a kool-aid budget these days so Disney trips are much father between than they used to be. I know an awful lot of fairly useless information about a whole bunch of stuff, food, wine, coffee, jazz, bookbinding, medieval Europe, the American Revolution. Aside from traveling to Disney my family has been involved in medieval reenactment (which is how I met Becks534), we did American Civil War reenactment for a few years, Geordon is preparing for zombies, and the kids love gaming, anime and cosplay.

Hey guys, I'm Troy married to my wonderful wife Amy of 13 years this December. I have been WDW 5 times and Amy 4 times. We have 2 girls from previous marriages and 2 beautiful grandbabies boys, Logan 1year old and Nicolai who is 2 months. Logan lives close and has spent every Friday night and Saturday with Mimi and Granddaddy since the week after he was born. So when I plan our trips we have to leave on Sunday and be back Friday AM so we can get our little man. biggrin Looking forward to our trip in 5 years when we get to take the boys on their 1st Disney trip.

My passion is woodworking. I have made many pieces over the years, ranging from furniture to ink pens. Got marked off a bucket list item when I completed my small work shop that I designed and built myself, yes I am bragging!!! 3 years ago I started a tradition of making Christmas gifts for the kids. My nephew with a Rocking Dinosaur for his 1st Christmas and now on to my grand boys. There is no better joy for me than to see kids playing with something that I made in "my" shop. Usually at the end of the day my cheeks are hurting from all the smiling as I watch my new project start taking shape. There are lots of days I make some pretty firewood too. rolling

We hadn't really thought about going again this year since we just went last year but we started talking about it and got the bug. So we are heading back and looking forward to the F&W Fest and trying all the things we missed last time. I do love a good drink and food so most of our pics seem to have me holding another beer. Beer Beer Wish we could go to Disney every year but there are other places I'd like to see, keeping my fingers crossed that we hit the lottery.

I'm Amanda. I was born and raised in Northwestern Pennsylvania. I moved to Southwestern Pa, just outside Pittsburgh, for school. I graduated last year with a B.A. in Journalism and then I moved to Florida to start on a new adventure. I had gotten accepted to the Disney College Program after I finished school and I haven't left. I have been with WDW for over a year now. I went on my first Disney trip in 1994 then another one in like 1996 or 1997 with my parents. I have been a Disney fan since and it has gotten only worse.

I'm Fiona from Southampton in the UK. Southampton is famous for being the port that Titantic left from on its fateful voyage! I'm divorced with 2 dds age 11 and 8. I work in a pre-school with children aged 2 to nearly 5. I have no idea where my love of WDW came from, certainly not from growing up as i didn't watch anything Disney movies etc. My parents were never into anything Disney. I have relatives in California so i knew of DL. I visited WDW first in 2000 with some friends and my then DH, and was excited about going as i had seen it on holiday programs, and i guess i just fell in love with it. We then had our dds and when they were 5 and 2 took them for their 1st visit in 2008, staying at POFQ. Then i got divorced, but was determined to still take my dds back, even as a single mum, and we had an amazing 2 weeks at WL in 2011. We did CRT, Akershus, HDDR, SOA (all on free dining clapping ) I treated it like a once in a lifetime holiday, thinking that we probably wouldn't return due to the costs. As we were flying back though, i was already making plans about how we could visit again! We have another trip booked in May 2014 at POFQ, i took advantage of an early booking offer. HOWEVER, since booking the UK government have set new rules for head teachers where they are no longer allowed to authorise time off school for family holidays so i may have to change my plans confused We have a 1 week school holiday in May but it's not worth the costs of the flight to come across for 1 week imo, so i may have to consider either August, easter or chistmas!

Hello everyone - I am really enjoying this thread!!! It's amazing how diverse everyone's story is and yet we all have one common thread - Disney mickey It's amazing and wonderful!!!!

My name is Maria (mimi is a childhood/family nickname), I'm 49 yrs old and husband and best, best friend is Bill, 54 yrs old. We live in a suburb outside Chicago. We were married on 07/07/07 - my first - his second. We have no kids together - Bill has a 27 year old son who lives in New Mexico. I knew from the second I met Bill, that he was the one. Our wedding date was truly the luckiest day of my life!! We have two furry children a boy Buddy Love, 7yrs old and a girl Pixie, 6mos old - both yorkies. The baby/puppy takes up A LOT of our time now. She is very head strong and a handful, even though she a tiny little thing!

I'm currently working part time at one of the largest florists in the Chicagoland area in the customer service department. I've been involved in the floral industry for almost 20 years now - but always on the clerical side. I've also had the priviledge of being a nanny/baby sitter - which was the hardest, but best, job I've ever had. (that's when my love affair with Disney began) ---Bill works as a service tech. in the fire protection division of Cintas - he's very good at his job and works extremely hard - and lots and lots of hours.

Hmmmm... general interests are the Chicago Cubs, history, documentaries, Disney movies, and just being silly whenever we get the chance. I, too, do not belong to any other forums but I am so grateful to have found this one. I've learned so much and found such wonderful and caring people.

Thank you all for sharing your stories - I've really enjoyed them all - I'm looking forward to reading more!! muchlove

I just joined today, but am so excited to be there and learn about everyone.

My name is Shelly, I'm 44 and my wonderful husband is Troy who turns 50 tomorrow. I work from home as a written correspondence agent (going on 2 years now) and I just got into the travel business, thanks to my Disney obsession lol I am also a student after all of these years to get my bachelors in business.

I have 3 grown children, the most beautiful grandson ya ever laid eyes on, 2 grand daughters and 1 one on the way, should be here in October Smile We live in Northern Ky now after moving from Indianapolis to be with the grandbabies. I am also mom to a beautiful Great Dane, Roscoe, a noisy Chihuahua named Amos and 2 spoiled rotten kitties named Boo and Cocoa.

Troy has 2 children that well frankly, we never see and rarely talk to, whole other story there!

We pretty much had our grandson for the first 4 years of his life, so we grew a very special bond with him. I love all of the grands, but there really is something different with the grandson. We were able to take him with us for his first Disney trip last October and can't wait to take him back for spring break 2014.

We are hoping/planning on doing a vow renewal for our 15th wedding anniversary in 4 years at Disney. Since it's a bit away, I'm taking my time and planning slowly Smile

I talk Disney with anyone who will listen and I probably drive most people around me nuts with it!

My husband would adore you! LOL Big smile

We call him Davey Crockett, due to his love of campfires and being able to burn a 55 gallon drum of soaking wet wood!

Hello,

My husband and I are "Adults without children enjoying Disney". We have gone every year since we have been togther (2002). We leave in 29 days, 5 hours, 18 minutes and 20 seconds....who's counting clapping We stay in our RV at Fort Wilderness and feel a certain calmness when we hear the boat whistle. For the second year in a row, we have friends that are joining us. We are attending the last night of Mickey's Not so scary Halloween Party and will enjoy a few days of the Food and Wine Festival. The one thing haven't mastered is how to get a reservation at Be Our Guest...any tips would be appreciated. Thanks for the forum, I enjoy it very much.

stars Hi Sherri! Welcome to the forums! stars

Be Our Guest is currently one of the toughest reservations to get at Walt Disney World. While there's no magic method I think most folks who have gotten in did so first thing in the morning at their 180 day mark. mickey

Glad you bumped it, I hadn't seen it. I have enjoyed reading about everyone.

My real name is Angela and my DH is Darren. Second marriage for both of us and like many of you have said, he is the love of my life. We've been married 4 years next month, but our past includes years of being at the same places at the same time and never meeting. I am 45 and he is 46. It was eerie when we met five years ago to find out how many times we had crossed paths as teenagers, but yet after we both married, never crossed paths again until we were both divorced. We say it was meant for us to be together.

DH is a goofball, and I mean that in the nicest way. He never fails to make me laugh and smile. We are both still kids at heart. We live in southern Tennessee, outside of Chattanooga, both born and raised in the area. I work for 911. I spent years as a Dispatcher, then an Assistant Director/Trainer, even did a stint as an Assistant in Emergency Management. I was finally drug, kicking and screaming into GIS. Basically, I build maps. I didn't want to do it, almost quit over it, and pulled my hair out learning it. It was at the time that 911 centers here were required to have mapping. I loved Dispatching and training Dispatchers. I stuck it out and after meeting DH, moved to where he was and was hired by the 911 Center here as their GIS Coordinator. I do actually love it, after pouting time was over. I still get my occasional "fix" and work dispatch when there is a major event.

I've never been to Disney, but was raised on it and grits. I own every movie and have always been a fan. DH has been 3 times and this trip he has planned for me as a first trip and a graduation present for him. He's worked for a major company in Fire and Safety for 27 years, and just retired last year from his second job as a Police Officer after 17 years. He finished his degree that he started 25 years ago and had abandoned because life got in the way. So we are going for his graduation and then driving to Disney for 6 days.

Because DH was a Motor Officer, his last 5 years, we purchased a personal bike two years ago. We love to take off on the weekends and just ride the mountains. I have two adult Sons, one military and 3 grandchildren. A 4th is baking in the oven Smile DH has an adult daughter. Our baby is a fuzzy cat named Sassy.

Hi all!! I am Ollie (actually that is a nickname, after my Grandma). My real name is Tammy. SURPRISE!!! I am a classic Disney era baby, having grown up with the original TV shows and Mouseketeers. My folks started the whole Disney obsession when I was still a stroller kid in Disneyland.

I am a veteran teacher - 25 years of English!!! My partner Kim and I got married in March; thank you Washington State Voters!!! We've been together over 17 years and have been to WDW 5 times, Disneyland once. Kim was NOT a Disney person until I got her to WDW IN 1998. One look down Main Street and it was all over. Seriously. Now she is the one that pines over the next trip. . .

We were last in The a World over Christmas and I got sick the last couple days and then didn't ever post the trip report. Sorry BuffaloBill. We love AKL and the wonderful slushies at the France pavilion, fine dining experiences, cupcakes, lunch at Downtown Disney, and monorail rides. We also like going slow, sitting on benches with Mickey bars or Dole whips or Grey Goose slushies, and people watching. Stoopid Shoes is a favorite game!!

Oh, and I really love this board. Best Disney board anywhere.

I was born on the wrong side of the tracks, the only surviving son of an English school marm and a Scottish paratrooper. I fought my way up through the rough and tumble streets of London, as scrappy as the day is long. I fought the Jerries in the big one and eventually found myself an agent in MI5 cracking codes and whatnot. They retired me after the wall came down and now I play Candy Crush to kill time most days.

Mrs. The Colonel loves cooking, cleaning, quilting and internet porn.

Oh yes, and we both love all things Disney. Even the German and Jap pavilions at Epcot. We're all friends now I suppose.

Hi! My name is Amanda and I have had a love for all things Disney from a very early age. I grew up in Ohio and visited WDW with my parents and 3 siblings every other year or so...took a break from the Mouse while in college and then fell right back in love during a family (now adult-only) trip a few years ago!

I am 32 and single and live in Nashville, TN. My 'kids' are my dog, Bella and my cat, Bandit. I am an interior designer and currently working as a design/sales consultant for a textile company. Some of my favorite things (besides WDW!) are visiting museums, live music/musicals, sporting events, art history, anywhere with a beach, reading, and Ohio State football and basketball Smile I also love to sing and am on the praise team at my church.

My upcoming trip with my sister (MeganLeigh) to the F&W fest is in less than 3 weeks!!! Also, we are planning a family trip for the fall of 2014 as well as a potential girls trip in the spring of 2014 mickey

So glad to have joined this forum!!

Hi all my name is Colleen, I am 26, and I have been a disney fan forever and my obsession keeps growing with age. I just joined this group today.

I live in Virginia with my family and I am trying to open my own online business. I started loving Disney as a kid and even though I haven't been back to Disney world in such a long time which will change next year, I still love the movies and collect them and the figurines and so much more.

I like to say that Disney has contributed to a big part of my character in my growing years. In the fact that I believe in never growing up. Friends will say how much of a big kid I am but I really would not have it any other way.

I went to undergrad at Shenandoah University and studied religion. My High School was Bishop O'Connell. I dog sit and I babysit on the side.

I am also an online food blogger and a craft blogger. I am the creator of the facebook page Adults who love Disney.

Hello Colleen an is welcome to WDWForGrownups! Glad you stopped by to say hello. I "Liked" your page today & left a post on it. It looks really good. Keep it up, it's not easy keeping a page like that going.

So, do you have a trip planned for later this year? If so, what are your plans?

Great thread - although I am not exactly "new", I missed this one, glad it got bumped! Yep, my real name IS Belinda. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Tim. Just celebrated 28 years of magic and mayhem. We have two grown children - just married our little princess off in June and it was a much needed fantastic party! I am 47 years young, hubby is 48. We have two lil fur babies - Bella (Yah, another Bella, she is a Malti-poo) and Ellie (she is Morkie). We live in the middle of Nebraska. I work for a company that audits banks for compliance. Hubby recently started a new job as a dispatcher - more on that later.

My love of all things Disney started with a slight fever many years ago. Our first official trip was in 1999 and the slight fever turned into a full fledged virus and there is no cure! Our most recent visit was in June 2010 to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We had 10 days of full-fledged fun and romance. It was everything we had hoped for and more!

Three months later Tim was in a serious car accident (hit a house in his patrol car at 60 mph). He bruised his spine, broke a wrist and several ribs. He could not feel anything below the belly button. He has since regained the use of his legs (with loads of therapy and hard work). He was "released" from his job of 25 years just before Christmas 2012. He has been doing some security jobs and is now doing some training for a dispatching position. Life has been a little intense for the past 3 years; however, we have been truly blessed.

Besides being Disney fanatics, we love to go hiking, geocaching, traveling and eating at new and interesting places. We are looking at heading back to Disney for a "survival celebration" in early December 2015. I really like this forum - you are all so nice and know soooo much! Thank you for making me part of this family - it is great to know I am not the only adult with Disney fever!
