Monorail Epcot Expansion Project - MEEP

MEEP! MEEP! as the road runner would say. silly

Was just thinking though, wouldn't it be great if Disney World were to expand the monorail at Epcot to have it circle around World Showcase and then service the Epcot resorts too? I think that would be amazing personally.

Wishful thinking I know, but anything is possible with Disney right? awesome

What do you think? Would you like to see this type of expansion if it were possible?

While I like the idea in theory, I don't know if I'd like having the added stops on my way to/from Epcot and MK.

Yes, it would add a few minutes to the trip for sure. Maybe there would be a way to run some express.

I think it would be great to have a Monorail system servicing all of the resorts and downtown Disney. here is the Monorail going through Saratoga Springs.

Here is a pretty interesting site too.

This is what I thought of when you said Meep...

As for the expansion. Id love ALL of Disney World to have the Monorail... but it costs way too much now. Id love for it to go everywhere... thatd be so much fun!

I thought that I just read somewhere that it would be ridiculous, like 10 Million per section, or 1 million per foot, something along those lines. I wish I could remember where I saw that.

I just read somewhere the last monorail built in Las Vegas cost over $156 million dollars per mile for 4.4 miles of Monorail. Ill see if I can find it. Yeah it's not going to happen, or at least not anytime soon.

Wow! I had no idea it was so costly. I wonder why? What is so special about it that would make it cost so much? Perhaps it's the fact that it's a unique vehicle compared to a standard train or such. Interesting indeed.

That and the piling that have to go in for stability in the sandy soil. The prestressed concrete and all the electrical that goes in the sections. How about the switching units to switch from one rail to the other, they are amazing.

The switching units are really something. We're taking the steam train tour in our upcoming trip and I believe you go over to the monorail shed (just outside of it though). I'm looking forward to seeing it all.
