Remember your first "Grown Up" trip to wdw.

mickey Our First grown up trip to WDW was 10 years ago. We had a few days booked in the Bahamas and since we were taking a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale to get there we decided to take advantage and hit WDW. We stayed at all star movies. Loved the bus service and had ADR's for coral reef and rose and crown. Dining was so easy that once we realized neither of us wanted fish we walked right into the princess free Norway to dinner. We were hooked. Now when people are talking about a WDW trip I have to remind myself to leave a little surprise or two for them so they get to find there magic spot of memories. Ours was standing on the bridge between the castle and tomorrow land as wishes began. Where was yours? mickey

Jeeze, that's far back to remember. My first "adult" Disney trip was in 1990 to Disneyland. I was on my own and had a great time though I don't remember many details besides looking out the window of the Disneyland Hotel and being a little homesick. I was 18 and in the Navy, stationed in Northern California about 6 hours away, I drove down when I had a 3 day weekend.

I my first "adult" trip to WDW was in 1996, I had been married, had two kids, and just left my husband and moved back home. I tossed the kids, my younger sister and my aunt in the car and we drove down to Florida from Illinois. That was an awesome trip, I most remember going to the "Hoop-dee-doo" and my 18 month old son hugged a piece of corn. My daughter looked amazing in a little white Alice in Wonderland dress with daisies all over her tights. We stayed off property, but it was my first time back to WDW since 1991 and it all seemed so HUGE again after becoming used to Disneyland. The Wilderness Lodge was new to me, and I can remember the awe I had my first time in the lobby when we went there to eat.

My first trip to WDW was an adult trip (2005). Walt Disney World didn't exist when I was a kid - it opened when I was a senior in high school, but my family didn't get around to going there until I was in college, had a summer job, and wasn't able to go along. (Disneyland did exist, of course, but we were on the other side of the country, and driving a family of 7 that far and back wasn't something my parents ever wanted to do.)

So, my first trip to WDW. A hurricane - Wilma, if I recall correctly - arrived in the middle of our first night and closed all the parks our first full day there. Cinderella's Castle was all done up for an anniversary - I think it was the 50th anniversary of Disneyland. Spaceship Earth still had the gigantic Mickey hand and "Epcot" sign on top. Captain Jack Sparrow hadn't arrived at Pirates of the Caribbean yet. The Food and Wine Festival was on, which we absolutely loved.

We were WDW rookies and didn't know about ADRs, crowd calendars, which attractions fill up first. So we ended up at MK on an EMH day (we were staying offsite) and hated it - the crowds were huge, lines outrageously long, and we didn't know where we were going. We had better luck at Epcot and DHS, but still had the problem of not knowing where we were going, so we ended up doing both parks twice and completely missed AK. On our second Epcot day, the couple we travelled with decided they wanted a table-service dinner and we discovered that the only place we could get in without an ADR was Restaurant Marrakesh after a couple hours-long wait - and we had already eaten there on our first day. So now, I plan well in advance, make those ADRs, and have never had these problems again.

I'm a youngin' around here--technically, my first trip as a legal adult was 3 years ago after my freshman year of college, but it was still with my parents and younger sister and they planned everything. Now that I'm 21 (turning 22 on my Disney cruise) I'm planning my first "adult" trip: my honeymoon with my fiance! Since it's my first adult trip and his first trip at all, I'm sure it's going to be amazing for the both of us!

All my trips have been adult trips. Honeymoon in Dl in 2004, Dl may 2007, Wdw December 2007and and Wdw in January 2012. I will be taking my parents for their first trip to Disneyland within the next year. I wish I had been able to experience Disney as a child.

Me too Wink

My first adult trip was in 2003 I believe, I went with a boyfriend and I was quite young to be flying half way round the world for 2 weeks, I think I was 18 or 19. I don't remember an awful lot about that trip, other than being quite cold, it was January. We stayed in a hotel right by universal and spent most of our time there as we could walk it.

My next trip wasn't until 2008 with my girl friend, it was a brilliant trip and spent a lot of time in disney, we were in the parks all day, shopping in the evening and pleasure island all night Wink this was just before it closed.

We then went on our honeymoon in 2009, hubby's first trip, and been every year since then with 2 trips planned this year Smile

DH and I went on our first adult trip this past October! We loved it so much that we're planning and saving to take my baby sisters on their first adult trip as a high school graduation present either the end of next year or beginning of 2015!

I was 21 for my first adult trip, which was a day trip with friends during Daytona Beach spring break in 1975. The next time I returned was with the kids(8 and 10) in 1996. First trip alone with DW was 2005. About 12 adults only trips since then.

My first every WDW trip was my Senior Class Trip in 1989. Not exactly a grown up yet, but I fell in love. As soon as I got a job out of college, I started saving for my first trip as an adult. I went with a boyfriend who had never been there. We stayed at the Poly (which was awesome), but I didn't know much about planning back then. Sometimes its hard to think about how little I knew back then. wink

I remember my first trip as an adult (meaning 21) and could go to Pleasure Island and actually get a drink. We stayed at the same hotel for nearly 10 years and some of the staff saw me grow up. The first adult beverage I ever had (seriously) was on Disney property at the Grosvenor Resort near Downtown Disney (now the Wyndham Lake Resort).

Very memorable trip for msyelf and I can't recall paying for too many drinks at the hotel those two weeks. Seems like ages ago now.

My first 'grown up' trip is this May - I am so, so excited about it, seeing how things have changed, getting to go to all the grown up places - being allowed to go on a ride as many times as I like! Going to be brilliant Laughing out loud

Enjoy, Barb!!! Disney is entirely different without little ones or family running around. I know they enjoy it, but there is something to be said for not having children with you at Disney. Hints this forum/community obviously.

My first trip as an adult was in 2001. Joe surprised me in March tickets to Disney World. I went once as a kid right when it opened, but never thought twice about it after. And when he gave me the trip info, I was excited just to be going on vacation!

Disney was never on my adult radar, and my first seekrit thoughts were "Oh, the kids! They will be everywhere!!" and "Wow, what's there to do at Disney that I would like? I hope I don't get bored"....

Um. Yes. You've since seen my Disney Room....so it's really all his fault. Really.

So Jeff when you put up your Disney Christmas decorations in August Joe has no one to blame but himself. He started it all and aren't you glad. laugh
