Spaceship Earth?

I did a search and didn't find anything along these lines.

I gather the refurb has been a hit overall, but how do you feel about it? What are your likes/dislikes about it? What features do you miss, and are they missed solely for their nostalgia?

Haven't been since before the refurb, so I'm looking forward to the new SE experience.

I actually think they did a great job with the refurb, I was thoroughly impressed with the touch screen options & the cartoon vignettes that somehow remind me of a throwback to Horizons when you got to pick your destination.

I like how they keep a lot of the beginning scenes untouched 'cause Spaceship Earth is so classic that I'd hate to see some of that stuff go.

My Grandpa was an engineer for AT&T so as a kid in the 80's I was like all Spaceship Earth'ed out! It was his pride & joy (even though he had nothing to do with the project), haha, & anytime we were in EPCOT he'd wear his AT&T pocket protector & talk about it constantly. waiting haha.

Inherently, Spaceship Earth is just a hard attraction to keep current & relevant. I still think some of the exit attractions could use a lot of improvement but the attraction itself I am pretty happy with right now & I've seen all the evolutions.

O.o
I want a vintage AT&T pocket protector! laugh

Excellent, I'm glad to know they left enough of the classic elements but were still able to modernize the attraction overall.

Your grandpa sounds like TOO much fun. I can see you as a bored little kid while he maybe talked the ear off of the CM working Spaceship Earth!

Agreed that I really like the refurb. The touchscreens and cartoons are a great "choose-your-own-adventure" addition, which is exactly what I liked about Horizons, too -- great point.

The new scenes are very cool, but the whole ride still has kept its endearing "slow-moving" qualities and the classic scenes.

Overall, Spaceship Earth is now certainly better than it was before. However, I feel that the ending was a bit of a letdown. While it is fun to play around with the display to choose your own "future", the whole attraction essentially "shuts down" for you to do that. I wish there was something to end it with rather than just the activity with the display screen. It kinda made you forgot the whole attraction.

I agree with pretty much everyone's sentiments:

1.) The refurb was an improvement.
2.) The end could use a bit more.
3.) The exit area could use some new activities.

PS I LOVE the cave paintings.

Honestly, I was disappointed in it. The ride itself doesn't go far enough into the present time. When you think about all the advances in technology we've seen in the past 10 years alone...the ride still feels dated.

I feel like that might be a very difficult obstacle for Disney to hurdle...and therefore why they probably didn't even try! I can't imagine how often the ride would be down for refurb if they had to add every new technology that came along. They probably said, OK -- anything technology that comes after 2008 is just going to have to wait until the next refurb! laugh

I think SE has come a long way. A couple of years ago, there were rumors that it was going to be defunct as an attraction (or a roller coaster?!??!). They've done a great job with the new scenes, and we also like the interactive part at the end.

Don't forget to send your "future life" postcard to people back home!

Sorry, but I think the trip down is a waste of time. Maybe 20 years ago when computers were not so widespread, this would be interesting. But, today, it is not. The average kid is far advanced over what is offered.

I guess I am confused . . the trip down?? are you talking about spaceship earth or WDW in general?
