Starbucks in Walt Disneyworld Florida

I'm not sure if it's just me and my family, but we are truly disappointed with the fact that Starbucks has taken over the Main Street Bakery and set to take over more. I love the idea that going to Disneyworld is like being in your own magical bubble where all the worries and difficulties of life can disappear while your there and your completely overwhelmed with the Disney atmosphere. There are so many unique Disney shops and food places I just think seeing the Starbucks brand everywhere just spoils the Disney experience. I have nothing against Starbucks personally, I love their chocolate frappuchinos but really think that there should be a line between brands and Disney. It's such a shame so many favourite unique Disney bakery cakes have been replaced with Starbucks- I know that's my family's fear with the Main Street Bakery is that the cinnamon cake has disappeared. Is it just me who feels this way? Let me know your thoughts!

Personally i don't have a problem with this as sponsors and companies have always been a part of WDW.McDonalds have been in frontierland for years for example.Am, sure there are plenty of others but that is the first one to spring to mind.

EDIT; a quick search shows that on opening day there was the Coca-cola refreshment center ...

I'm not an official coffee drinker so never got the reason for complaining about the Disney coffee. But Starbucks on Main Street doesn't bother me. It does mentally change the small town Victorian main st memory feel knowing that it is a new and modern brand. But the look blends right in for me and so many coffee drinkers are happy about it, that I'm happy for them.

it bothers me because I am not a fan of Starbucks coffee either, why could Disney just not improve their own coffee?

I must agree that in a way, I like to see just Disney branded stuff in MK. When you see regular "real world" shops inside the kingdom with the castle in the background, it takes away from the fantasy a bit.

I'd hate to even guess how much Starbucks pays WDW to be setup in the bubble. eek But, I'd love to know. wink

well I wasn't happy to see Starbucks on Main street...it just changes the feel of it. And plus am not a big fan of Starbucks. But even if it was another coffee place like Dunkin I still wouldn't like it. They should have left Main Street as it was. But that is only my opinion.

Meh. Doesn't bother me at all. I love Starbucks. There are lots of things in Disney that represent the outside world - adding a few Starbucks doesn't really change that.

How do you feel about the Coke brand taking over WDW for the last...FOREVER! lol The Coke brand is ALL over WDW. Advertisements are everywhere. It doesn't bother me, but it is def. a huge brand for Disney.

I think the change was well done. They handle the crowds much better, the coffee is better than the Nescafe they used to serve and if you want a cinnamon roll they say to go to Gastons's tavern to get one. The CM's are still in the period clothing and I don't think the looks of the building outside ruined anything with the looks of Main Street.

I wasn't a real fan when the first announced that Starbucks would be a part of WDW. However since I have been there since the change I don't have a problem with it. I much prefer Starbucks coffee to the water down product that was Nescafe and Joffreys isn't bad either. Change is everywhere.

Main street was built with Marceline in mind. Starbucks with its logo was not! Disney sometimes get things right and sometimes get things wrong (don't get me started on the new little mermaid ride!) and I understand they cant please everyone. I have no problem with Starbucks coming to the Magic Kingdom and selling coffee, I just think it is such a shame they had to change what was a wonderful Main Street Bakery with many wonderful Disney tastes, which taste all the better because you are in main street! Why did they change the menu to theirs? ....... unfortunately I know the answer money! Well I for one will not be buying any pastries from there I go to the Magic Kingdom to taste Disney not something I can buy here in the UK whenever I want!!

Is is that the Main Street Bakery is now a Starbucks, or is it that they're serving Starbucks coffee? A lot of places that aren't really a Starbucks serve their coffee and sell their products.

I personally don't have a problem with it being Starbucks coffee, neither did I have a problem with Nescafe whose coffee was served there before. The problem I have is with their obvious branding and insistence on changing the bakery into a Starbucks

I think any branding ruins the magic in Magic Kingdom, most of the cups plates etc have disney designs or are styled with the theme of the restaurant. Coca cola, Starbucks, McDonald's etc just shouldn't be displayed all over disney world, Mickey Mouse logo yes, "real world" brands no...

It doesn't bother me. I enjoy having a place to get a good cup of coffee in the parks and from the pictures I've seen, it looks like the signage and store front still blend in nicely with the Main Street look. There have been major "outside" brands partnered with Disney parks since their inception, it's no different to me then any of the others.

I am not a fan of Starbucks coffee. I am hoping there will be somewhere to get a cup of coffee without that bitter strong taste. Always loved the bakery on Main Street. Hopefully will not change too much.

I'm fine with it. I know how Starbucks fixes drinks and what I can do to them to get them the way I want so I'm cool with it infiltrating the parks on the small level it has.

For a very long time the partnership Carnation/Nestle provided the coffee in Disney's Theme parks. However as coffee culture gained speed, and more and more fans took to the internet Disney got a very bad name as having some of the worst coffee anywhere. Disney has always - from the beginning - sought corporate partnerships that are advantageous to both companies in order to bring their guests an excellent overall experience. Why not partner with a brand that offers a high quality product rather than one that guests complain about? The partnerships with Starbucks and with Joffery's are very much appreciated by Disney travelers who are also pretty picky about their cup of joe.

You will actually find many food sponsorships throughout the Disney Parks. Off the top of my head I can name
Nestle (Carnation & Stouffers), Coca-cola, Kikoman, Bertolli, Frito Lay, J.M. Smucker, and Dole.

Love eating at Tony's - pick up the basic Bertolli sauce at your grocery store. Can't get enough of the Liberty Tree Tavern mac & cheese - head to the frozen aisle for some Stouffers.

As far as the logo on Main Street goes - Bertolli has a sign at Tony's, as has Coke at one time, Smuckers has had a display window in one of the shops. At Disneyland one of the restaurants (The Carnation Cafe) is named after its sponsor.

Over the years as old contracts end and new ones are created we're bound to see other new sponsors as well, this is just simply the way Disney has always done it.

The logo used on Main Street is based off of a vintage woodcut in an early 20th century 'cigar band' style. I don't see how that doesn't fit in on Main Street. mickey

Oh my! Can you imagine? People watching on a shaded bench first thing in the morning before the true heat of the day hits, when the air is still fresh, birds twittering around you. A steaming cup of Timmies (double cream!) in one hand and a few sour cream glazed Tim Bits in the other, and all the adventures the parks hold stretching before you...heaven! mickey

Oh! If we're day dreaming here, why not one of those nifty beer fridges that they have at the Olympics that opens with your passport?!!? Yes please!

The Main Street Bakery is only licensed to sell the products. All the staffing for Main Street Bakery was provided by Disney. I'm pretty sure Fountain View in Epcot is the same way, just licensed to sell the products. The Starbucks that are being put into DTD is going to be full Starbucks.

I was very anti Starbucks being on Main Street but it has been done very well and personally I do not think it impinges that much and isn't that obvious.

I agree completely Sally-Ann. It does not stick out at all and in fact blends in very well. I also think it's nice to be able to get something familiar if you would like to, especially for guests coming from outside the US since all Starbucks (at least the ones I've been to in Canada, Greece & Austria) offer similar drinks and treats. I might feel differently if they were taking over all the coffee stands in the parks, but I don't believe that is the intention at all.

The original image for Starbucks was from the 16th century and it was of a topless siren! Defiantly not Disney!!!
As I also said Disney will never please everyone.

I'm thrilled that Starbucks is on Main Street. I just wish they could have done some kind of a different logo for it to match with Disney more. When we were there this past January, I was happy to see the Starbucks to get my coffee and warm up.. it was sooo cold. Sometimes it just so hard to accept changes.

My husband loves the fact that Starbucks is at Disney since he is an addict. I however am not a big fan and I was rather sad when it opened at Magic Kingdom.

Yeah, I really don't care for Starbucks coffee, and since I never ordered coffee there (ice tea mostly), I am more concerned that all the pastries we love aren't there anymore!

If it's that different, I am sure Dh will insist we eat at the resort first....even if only a pastry and drink.
