Talking about Disney

Does talking about Disney make your withdrawal symptoms worse, or better?

We haven't been able to get to Disney in quite a while, but I find talking about it makes it seem more likely to happen soon. That being said, many times reading about it just makes me want to go that much more. Do you find that talking about Disney is a good way to take the edge off, or does it just make the pangs worse?

It does make me want to go more, but it also makes me happy. I really enjoy reading about other people's trips, looking at their pictures, and generally soaking up the Magic. I visit a number of disney sites almost daily.

Good question. That little bit of "magic" in my day is like a mini-vacation. Plus, I've gotten pretty attached to a lot of the folks on this board, so it's fun to read about their trips and lives.

However, when I read updates and reports, it DOES make me want to head back ASAP. I don't know how well I'd do if I didn't go to Disney at least once a year. Wink

dsoup, I have given your question a whole lot of thought and came up with both as my answer. Talking about Disney is probably my favorite topic of all, yet it can and does make me want to be there.
Admin, I also agree with you. If we did not go to Disney at least once a year I am not sure I could handle reading in here daily as I usually do.

I agree with the responses above- it helps if you are going. I've been annoying my friends and boyfriends for the past 70 days since I booked. This site is a great outlet to let off some Disney steam and talk about it. But, if I weren't going soon, I think it would make it worse- like an unreachable itch!

Maybe the goal is to CONVINCE yourself that you're going soon and then just keep putting it off. That way you can come talk on WDWForGrownups, even if you aren't going soon. wink

I have to say both. Caitie and I aren't going to be going back for a while - at LEAST next summer - and at least reading about it keeps me in the loop and gives me a little taste of how much I love it, but it also makes me want to go that much more. Every week when my AllEars newsletter comes in the email it makes me nostalgic and want to go back that much more!

I have never booked a trip anywhere as far off as this one has been (a year) so it feels like its a LONG time coming. I dont know if the Disney forums make it better or worse. I only found this and another Disney forum just before our honeymoon so didn't get to appreciate the benefits o its knowlage. Believe it or not this will be my firat holiday with a plan and ADR's, i didnt even know they exsisted before! But because I've been planning and looking forward to it for so long, i'm worried something might go wrong Sad

That's definitely a problem we've faced. On some trips we planned so hard and looked forward to them for so long that we became worried that something would go wrong. We're not always great at just rolling with things either, but there's really never any point at letting yourself get bothered when things don't go according to plan.

In your case, I'm sure all the Disney magic will make sure nothing goes wrong! No need to worry!

I love talking about Disney, not many people I know that will listen for too long though so coming on here provides an outlet for me. yay

I think it makes it worse for me! Between 2003-2008 The Dave and I went down to the World a total of about 10 times...we haven't been since June 2008. I visit a number of different sites and I am a member of another forum but around 7-8 months ago I found myself going to those places less and less..mostly because I had no idea when our next trip would be.
However, there would be days that I would do nothing but sit on allearsnet.com or the Disney Food Blog and drool and dream! laugh (This may or may not have been because a little nugget would only sleep on my lap for the first five months of his life...)
But now I figure that I will be able to at least start planning a trip by this time next year so it's time to get back in the groove!

This is kind of what we do too. We are always at least throwing around possibilities so it's not impossible that we'd go, even though we haven't gone in forever.
