How long did that take you?
It probably took me and my 5 year old son about 3 hours, over a couple of days. We had plenty of time to come up with ideas while we waited on our 9 ft of EL Wire to come from Amazon. My son drew up some of of his ideas, then we collaborated on the final design. The longest part was waiting for the paint to dry.
My son had been planning this since he got the vinylmation Trons at WDW. That electroluminescent wire (EL Wire) stuff is pretty cool, and I knew it had to be part of the project. Total cost of the project was about $15, including the lights and paint.
I was about to ask about the wires next. I'd never heard of EL wire before. Looks like fun!

Yeah, I used a hot glue gun.
Do you think the EL wire would be a good possibility to use for some lighting in a home media room? Can you dim it, or is it just on/off?
The wire I have has on/off and a fast strobe. I think it would be great for a media room. There are some inverters that offer dimming. You can also get an inverter that is sound activated, which would be very cool for a media room.
