Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Loved the parade and declared to Joe that next year we are spending Christmas Day at Disney!
He's still rolling his eyes at me....
I didn't watch it, because it would only annoy the heck out of me. I stopped watching it 2 years ago.

It just hasn't been the same to me since Alan Thicke and Joan London stopped hosting, Regis was the "Man on the Street". However, I still watch I wish that they would go back and look at the tape of some of the older shows, then try to incorporate a bit of that back into the broadcast.
The problem I have with all of the big-event televised parades is that half the time they don't show the parade, they're showing somebody singing their latest pop or country or show tune. There are plenty of places I can go to see live or televised performances. When I watch a parade, I want to see the marching bands, floats, balloons, and characters.
I agree, they just don't show enough of the parade, it's always jumping from one performance to another, with a quick shot of the parade in between. We had it on for background, and I did not like the coverage at all. It seems way too edited and not enough plain parade coverage.

PLUS don't forget that the entire parade is nothing but one super long commercial for Disney with acts thrown in to break up the commercial to make it more palatable.
This is exactly my complaint from 2 years ago, and why I no longer watch it on TV.

Sorry I got everybody all fired up about the parade. I was really just saying that watching it and seeing the MK made me think of all of you, and I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas.
Kris, PLEASE don't take it personal or get the wrong idea.I am super glad that the parade made you think of all of us, I just think that the parade is NOT what it used to be and has become way to commercialized, and is geared towards the teens and tweens set, NOT to the people who pay dearly to bring these teeny boppers to the parks, so it (the parade) just does not have the appeal that is used to have.
Thanks, Kris! It was a chaos of non-Disney lovers here, and I completely forgot to tune in at all! But it made me smile to log on and see your greeting. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a very Happy New Year to you!
Sorry Kris, didn't mean to take the holiday greeting out of your post.
I was just agreeing that I really don't enjoy watching the parade, although it does make me wish I was there even amongst the chaos. I know what you mean about the shots of the castle making you think of MK. I agree though that it's way too Disney channel driven and love the old fashion Disney Christmas parade sans all the teen pop idols.
Without sounding like an old scrooge, happy holidays to you all, you all enhance our Disney experience every time we go! SO glad I found this blog!

commercialized, and is geared towards the teens and tweens set, NOT to the people who pay dearly
I have to disagree with this. Many of the ads this year were focused on family togetherness and traditions, interviewing families straight off of Main Street. Many of them brought me to tears with their sweet sentiments and lovely memories. They did not in any way shape or form have that effect on my teens. Who happily watched the parade with me on TV. Why? Because we're giant mouse heads.
I am sure that I'm the only one that orders a new DVD every year, has saved Disney ads out of magazines, and I'm generally happy to get a glimpse of the park at any moment. I love Disney ads in general, they give me 30 seconds of happy n the middle of a boring day, and the way they integrated guests off of the street this year was fantastic.

They can do whatever they want. But then, they shouldn't call it a "parade" when the parade itself is a minor part of the show. Call it "Disney's Feel Good Hour With Teen Stars Singing And Dancing!"

Oh, no you're not Kristen - you have a soul make in me! I order a new DVD every year, and save everything Disney that we get - magazine ads, mail, etc., because you never know when and where I might be able to use it!
I made Joe sit with me a few days ago and watch the Disney Cruise DVD that I got a few months ago. I enjoy every minute of Disney that I can see when I am not there.

Dave used to tolerate these shanignags a lot more when I first started doing this. I remember watching one of the planning DVD's (the one that was more like a story with 4 friends who were touring the parks) WAY too much. Ever since then he won't watch them with me anymore. I, however, could pop popcorn and make a night of Disney Vacation DVD Planning.
