What about designing your own podcast?

I got really into MouseTraveler's designing your own radio station thread and I'm wondering what you guys would broadcast on a podcast!

I never know where those guys come up with so many shows. What are some subjects you'd put on yours? Would you make all about one topic, or would you cover ALL of Disney?

I wonder that, too, bali. How DO they come up with all of those topics?!?

I think I'd like to have a lot of listener interaction and Disney interviews on my podcast. I'm not a BIG fan of the "let's debate about the transportation system" kind of thing. I'd rather hear people recount some of their favorite memories of trips, listen to disney employees talk about their behind the scenes thoughts and concerns, etc.

They do a lot of the same ones and they also take a lot of listener questions.

It always seems to me a lot like an audio forum. They come up with a few threads and chat about them for an hour or so.

I like the "disney employees" podcast idea! Are they allowed to do that, or is that in the creed that they won't talk about things outside of Disney? mickey

First of all, I admire anyone who puts their time and effort into doing a podcast, even if it isn't to my particular liking.

I find that the worst part of the pod community is that many are way too long. A friend of mine on Twitter is a big Disney fan and listens to podcasts all day while at work.

I noticed he tweeted the other day something like "Listening to the XYZ (don't remember which one) podcast and its 2 hours 41 minutes long so I don't think I'll finish it today..."

'Saving Private Ryan' entertained me for three hours. I can't imagine ANY amateur podcaster doing the same.

I listened to one once while I was mowing the yard. The guy was talking about losing weight (which I have YET to relate to Disney). It maybe takes me 45 minutes to mow my yard, and the entire time I was zipping around he was talking about his struggles to lose weight.

Now you know what I DON'T like. I DO like passion about the Disney product, information and good guests.

But again, I give kudos to any person who puts their time into a project like this based on their love of Disney.

Good point that they're often too long. There's a real trick to doing any sort of broadcast in that you need to realize that you're broadcasting for your AUDIENCE and not to hear yourself talk Wink

I always feel like they should spend a bit more time editing. I know they spent a long time chatting, but much like many other types of art, what you take out is just as important as what you create. I would probably listen to Podcasts more often if they edited them down instead of just recording everything they talk about. PS. I just changed "taping" to "recording" because I realized how old that made me sound.
