What Do You Think? Are These Disney Restaurants Overrated?

AllEars.Net Asked Are These Five Popular Disney World Restaurants Overrated?

  1. Be Our Guest
  2. 50's Prime Time Cafe
  3. Crystal Palace
  4. California Grill
  5. Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

I've eaten recently at 50's Prime Time Cafe for dinner and really enjoyed it.
I haven't been to California Grill recently but I have always loved it in the past.
I also really enjoy breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.
Be Our Guest I can take or leave, but I have only done breakfast and lunch.
I've never been impressed as an adult with Crystal Palace, it gets way to crowed and noisy for me in there.

We've only eaten breakfast at Be Our Guest and it was ok - the ambiance was better than the food. We eat at The Cali Grill every trip and it rarely disappoints - it's probably our favourite on site restaurant.

We haven't tried the others so can't really comment. Restaurants are such a personal choice and I'm sure lots of people love these ones. If everyone liked them all, we wouldn't be able to get any ADR's. wink

We've done breakfast and lunch at BOG, I went mainly to see the castle the first time we went which was lunch and the breakfast was an EARLY prior to Rope Drop breakfast. I enjoyed the meal but the food was just ok.

I love 50's PT. The pot roast rivals my mom's and that Fried Chicken, I think if they were more consistent with the hijinks and antics, it would be more fun.

Never been to CP, just doesn't appeal to me at all. I am not a fan of buffets

CG - how is this overrated? The food is always good when we've been and I've seen tons of great reviews. Plus you really can't beat the view!

***TOPOLINO - "hold my sangria"*** laugh laugh

Akershus again, buffet. We did Cindy's Table in the past and met all of the princesses, don't think this would live up to that.

But again, I agree, restaurants and food are so subjective. And you have to take it with a spoonful of sugar and try them all for yourself.

I was talking to a co-worker of my daughter's the other day and she was commenting on the Disney Food Blog videos. She looks at me and says "If I hear one more recommendation for Sanna I'm going to scream."

I chuckled and said "I really like Sanaa." Then added the caveat that I feel Sanna is best experienced at lunch time when you can see the animals.

It is really very subjective, and what works for one family may not work for another. I also feel like the time of day and season of the year makes a difference in how enjoyable certain restaurants are. I don't like to be rushed when eating, so choosing those off times is important to my experience.

My parents and I really love 50s Prime Time. I haven't been to Cali Grill since the refurb but I really enjoyed it. Crystal Palace is okay but we do enjoy it. I haven't been to Akershus in a long time, I remember not liking it for some reason. I really like Be Our Guest, I prefer dinner over lunch but haven't been since it changed for dinner. I haven't been for breakfast.

Be our Guest - we have had good and we have had bad. Dinner, I can't really remember having a bad meal, lunch, never went back for it!

50's Prime Time - we have been to a few times and never had a bad meal. It was fun, but not something we needed to go back right away, I would go back.

We are not buffet people either really. Crystal Palace we have been to for both breakfast & dinner. Breakfast was okay but dinner was not enjoyable at all. I can't see us going back anytime soon and unless its with kids and even then not so much.

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall - never been to, have no desire to go.

California Grille - We have pretty much always loved the Cali! I can say I had a few meals in the recent past that didn't wow me there, but most always do and the service and atmosphere have always been excellent. I love to watch the kitchen staff work together! It is mesmerizing.

We love Cali Grill so absolutely 100% no on that one. Be Our Guest is good, but I don't really think it warrants the almost impossibility of getting dining reservations there. I like 50s Prime Time, and Crystal Palace and Akershus are ok but I don't think they're super overhyped. I'd add Cinderella's Royal Table and O'hana onto this list for sure. Cinderella's Royal Table was just fine but not worth the effort or the price IMO and everyone always raves about O'hana but I've given it three chances now and not been impressed a single time.

I feel the same towards CRT and O'Hana. I need to go for dinner and see if I like it.

Be Our Guest - didn't care for breakfast. I did like lunch and dinner (before the menu change)
50's Prime Time Cafe - one of my favorites
Crystal Palace - prefer breakfast over dinner
California Grill - I don't go here nearly enough. I love their brunch.
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall - I've only had breakfast here a few years ago. I'd like to try another meal.

Becks told me recently that Sunday Brunch at the California Grill was without a doubt the best meal she has ever eaten at Walt Disney World. It almost makes me want to stay over on a Sunday so I can give it a try.

The Sunday brunch at California Grill is amazing! I had been trying to get a reservation for months. We arrived on Saturday the 5th and after attending Party for the Senses and returning to Saratoga Springs for the night I scared my husband half to death, shrieking with joy, when I realized a spot had opened up for the very next morning!
