In any case, our eyeballs were spared from Flashy Guy for the rest of the ride.
Carlos for the smack down! Woot! At least the guy stopped.
Frankly - flash in dark rides really doesn't make for great pictures. It just confuses the heck out of me.

Courtney wrote:I think I may have told this story before on here. We were in line for POTC, I can not remember if it was DL or WDW, we did both that year. its the one where the line up passes right my the boats waiting to unload, I am leaning more towards DL.That reminds me, I have a POTC story from our wedding trip. We were sitting just behind a couple and their child and the dad is taking pictures of the mom and kid (with flash) through the entire loading process and the initial scenes. Okay, fine....Except for the whole "please, no flash photography" thing. The constant flashes were actually getting pretty painful to the eye when we get to the big battle scene. Once again, the dad is flashing away! Carlos leans forward and very nicely asks the guy to please turn the flash off, since it's quite distracting, etc. The guy looks back at Carlos and says "I don't speak English" with a fairly heavy Spanish accent. Nice try, pal. Carlos responds, "Oh si? *Spanishspanishspanish*" My hubs is bilingual and yet probably speaks better English than I do. In any case, our eyeballs were spared from Flashy Guy for the rest of the ride.
I don't remember this but my dad sure does. This was on my 1st trip back in 1991. I must not have seen it, but dad loves to bring it up when telling funny stories. He says when we were at one of the parks, a man walked right past him, and he had a good case of the "walking farts." Dad was just amazed that this guy seemed to not care that he was in public letting all that hot air out with not a care in the world that somebody might hear. lol!
During my September 2012 trip I encountered four instances of rudeness from other visitors. First instance, me and my hunny had just hopped aboard the Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios. There was another couple in the row first, then us. It looked like it was just going to be us four in that particular row since our part of the tram had filled up and there wasn't a whole lot of space left. Then all of a sudden I hear some B**** yell out loudly, "I THINK SOMEONE NEEDS TO MOVE DOWN." Apparently, the CM running the ride (who I think might have made a mistake or didn't know how to do her job, especially since I mentioned earlier that there wasn't a whole lot of space left in the row we were sitting in) had decided to let this older lady and her grandchild? into our row. I hadn't noticed because I was too busy focused on waiting for the ride to start and also whispering to my hunny about whatever so...I just found it rude that this lady "just had to yell" like that. She was obviously being impatient and you could tell that she thought she was "putting me in my place" by trying to embarrass me when I hadn't even noticed to begin with that the CM stupidly was letting some more people onto this particular row. So all four of us are now six and cramped. I, being embarrassed and mad about this decided to get even. I whipped out my camera and just as the ride started, I started taking pic after pic after pic and I made sure to be "obvious." I figured since this rude woman has ruined the ride for me, I was going to ruin it for her. I just kept taking pic after pic after pic, just as much so, but also making sure I didn't bump elbows or anything like that. They couldn't get out of that ride fast enough when it ended. Me and hunny also rode the ride again later on just so I could have a better experience to remember.
The second instance happened when we were watching the "France" film at the France pavilion. Two people sitting behind us were just talking loudly during the whole presentation. It seemed like they were French visitors and they were just going on and on about the places the film showcased and me and hunny are sitting there, like "Um excuse me, do you know how loud you are? We're in a movie theater." But they could have cared less. Again, I saw this film a second time on my recent August trip and enjoyed the film much better this time.
The third instance happened when we went to the Boardwalk and decided to stop by Boardwalk Bakery. Long lines, early evening. A b****y woman in front of us asks the baker if they had some type of cookie. The baker tells her they don't. She, obviously acting like she's so important, asks can they check in the back. He tells her they don't carry that kind of cookie there. She insists that she got this cookie there just a day or so ago (which she apparently hadn't and had the bakery confused with some other place.) He again tells her they don't have it so she asks to speak to a manager. Keep in mind, long lines out the door and she just has to be right. We and the other people behind us are getting very impatient now. The manager comes along right at the time that another worker motions for me to come around so we don't have to wait any longer. I witness the manager say to her that no, they don't and never carried that kind of cookie there and that she must have gotten it from somewhere else. And she is just pitching a hissy fit, saying that she's right, they're wrong, etc. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. It's already bad enough that I have to endure watching this type of behavior when waiting in line behind someone at Wal-mart, but at Disney World?
And the fourth incident happened to my hunny. We were staying at Pop Century and he was at the food court, and going to bring back to our room something to eat. He calls me on his cell to let me know what they're offering and he claims that while on the phone a foreigner was walking in his direction and yelled at him to "get out of the way." Pop's food court is pretty big and while it might have been busy at that time, that does not give this a****** the right to be yelling at people like that. All he had to do was go around him. And my hunny insists that he was definitely NOT in the way. He was actually standing out of the way, since he was on the phone and trying to be courteous. Not standing in line or such. Just some rude a** who thought he could be like that for whatever reason.
I love Disney World but I didn't think we would encounter so much rudeness on the trip!
On that note, the recent trip in August had a weird encounter. Me and hunny were at Kringola bakery at the Norway pavillion and had just sat down in their table area to eat our rice cream and school bread and some kid a table away was standing up and having a hissy fit about the "birds" coming and flying around. I mean a hissy fit, like he'd never seen a bird or knew what one was. The kid looked like he was around 8-10 years old. I seriously started thinking he and his family might be space aliens or something the way he was acting about the birds. He was so scared, and yelling to his parents, "Keep the birds away! I don't like them! Get em away from me!" As usual, they were the type of parents that just let their kid keep on hissy-fitting, not giving a care in the world that he is making a scene and bothering everybody else around. People are staring and we finally got up, took our school bread and found a spot outside of the bakery to eat. Talk about weird!
My Wife and I were at AK a couple years back and a larger man on a scooter ran over my right foot. The fiberglass base of the scooter cut a huge gash in my ankle. I had to go to the first aid station and get it taken care of. the worst part was the guy did not apologize but just yelled at me that and I quote "I should have gotten the H**L out of the way". I took it in stride and did not let it ruin my vacay.
This happened Sunday at MNSSHP. I was on HM and were had just "arrived" in the library when I hear a commotion in the doom buggy behind me. I look over the side of the doom buggy and the woman from the buggy behind me had gotten out of her buggy and was standing there with her hands on her head yelling "what do I do! What do I do!". And then she disappeared (I assume she tried to walk back to the beginning, not like the happy haunts "disappeared her"....or maybe they did!!) CM swarmed on both sides with flashlights, I assume looking for her, but couldn't find her, which was the really weird part. The man and child she had been riding with were still in the car. After 10 mins the ride continued, but at the end, a HM CM and a CM in regular attire were waiting and snagged the man and the kid to ask him where the woman went b/c they still couldn't find her!! Maybe Leota was irritated the woman screwed up our ride and took matter into her own hands/?
Oh my god? Seriously? That would freak me out to witness that, and on Haunted Mansion no less? What I'm trying to figure out is why did she get out of the buggy? And where did she go? lol
You know I read another story on here where someone, while riding HM, saw a guy switching from buggy to buggy, I think. And you always hear these stories that someone died while riding HM, either at DL or DW. Makes you wonder when seeing things likes that, if it's real or the ghosts of the idiots that tried this sort of thing and...? lol Anyways, I hope everybody was okay. Hope that found that woman.
If she stayed on the track, she should of found her way out but if she took a wrong turn..oh boy. A friend did a behind the scenes tour of HM and they said its easy to get lost. There is no such ceremony that I had mentioned.
EmmaV wrote:Oh my gosh!! I am so surprised at these stories!
I have never witnessed things as drastic as full blow arguments (let alone slapping) in disney!
the most I've ever seen is the occasional child getting told off but very subtly i must say!
I can't imagine what would make me SO mad whilst on holiday to have full blown arguments in public!
And queue cutters!! well they make me madder than anything! I wouldn't have the guts to boldly go and stand in front of other people!
The worst thing is these incidents really put a downer on surrounding families holidaysUnfortunately I feel like for a lot of families, they consider Disney a once in a lifetime trip and therefor feel they are entitled to get the best experience possible, even at the expense of others. When you go in with a bad attitude like that though and let little things upset you when they don't go exactly the way you planned, it not only affects the people around you, but I can't imagine that you are enjoying yourself to the fullest, either.
I would feel that the best experience possible would be to have the most love and make it the most of the magic of Disney as possible however I am sure mom and I have gotten cranky together at the park before too. So I can't say that I am not guilty of some sort of dispute
On a daily basis, I see people driving the wrong way down the aisles in the parking lots (after the parking cast have stopped parking cars none the less) to get to an open spot.
You can dump peoples ashes on the ride?
Edit-No special ceremony at HM like someone had mentioned to me.
You can dump peoples ashes on the ride?
I find that hard to believe. I always heard Disney was very totally against that anywhere on Disney property.
You're not supposed to but people do it.
What?????? People dumping ashes at WDW?? C.R.E.E.P.Y

A teenage girl did die on HM when I was a CM, so it would have been 1991 or 1992. She climbed out of her buggy to scare her friends who were in the buggy behind. She slipped and fell and her head got trapped in the mechanism. The HM was "closed for refurbishment"for a while after that. Disney did quite a good job of keeping this out of the media. All the CM knew about it but the guests didn't.

I've heard about that. It amazes me that Disney is able to keep most ride accidents out of the media.

Isn't the saying that no one has ever died at Disney b/c they don't pronounce until they get to the hospital?

An interesting read on this subject over at Snopes:

Thanks. I broke my own rule...always Snopes-it first....
Well I can tell you it's true here that if Paramedics or anyone on scene starts CPR or other life saving measures, it's true they do have to continue them until they are at a medical facility. They can only declare dead on-scene if there is no ifs ands or buts that nothing can be done. Even if a bystander starts CPR, when Paramedics arrive, they have to continue it until they get to the medical facility and turn them over.
So that part....could be true.
In May me and my partner were at MK, we had just got of the plane and it was her birthday. We were on Main Street right outside Casey's waiting for the electric light parade. Well out of now where the woman in front of us and her kid walk off of the curb and leave, so like any one would we figure she's gone for good and step forward in to her space. Then half way through the parade she comes back and pushes in front of us saying it was 'her space' she pushed and pushed until we were being pushed in to the family next to us who were all on scooters with three double strollers full of sleeping kids. This family then say we are pushing them. We can't step forward as it's the parade and can't walk back because the crowd is so deep. It was crazy and both sides took it out on us who were just standing there. People get extremely weird at disney world and need to calm down.
I just remembered this: Also, on my recent August trip, I saw a young guy maybe in his late teens-early20's wearing mouse ears; "MINNIE" Mouse ears. And not just the usual version, but one of those decorative kinds, that are VERY NOTICEABLE. He was just walking along, having so much fun, not a care in the world. Got a LOT of stares. I guess whatever floats your boat. lol!

Oh my gosh! That's insane! I hope she was ok - how the heck does one just happen to get out of their doombuggie?
Think it was 6-7 years ago, we were killing time on the Boardwalk, as we waited for ME. When it was time to go, we noticed a small crowd near the boat launch. A young boy had stuck his head thru the railing, and was unable to get it back out. Wish we could have stayed to see how they resolved that one

He's still there!

The other day when I was going to MK, I was in the return to MK parking lane just past the Hess gas station and this car didn't go straight. It turned and slightly went the wrong direction to go to the street that leads up past the Contemporary. I see a ton of cars in the parking lots driving down the wrong way just to find a parking spot after the parking cast has stopped parking cars for the night.

I know that exact spot! I hate that spot! There should totally be a place that you can turn around there.

Driving is the craziest thing I usually see since I drive through property to get to work. That is just totally mind blowing that someone would do that. I've thought about that but never done it since that is very dangerous to do. Believe it or not but I have seen Orange County Sheriffs around the MK autoplaza and have seen them pull over cars.
About 8-10 years ago the 3:00 parade was late because pluto was ran over by a float. Very sad as the had worked so hard to earn that spot. I'm glad his dream came true but sad to hear about it. No one in the park knew at the time we learned about it on the news. The CM had kept a stage face that hid it all. I haven't seen that parade since.
