This is also another recent acquisition. Since Donald is often tormented by Chip 'n Dale, there are many pins in which these three appear together. This is one such example.

I hope to put this one up in our frames soon.

We got this pin about a couple of months ago during one of our Windy City Pin Traders monthly pin trading meet. When I saw it, I cracked up (or quacked up), and then I had to have it. I forgot what we traded for it, but it was well worth it. This is a Walt Disney Imagineering pin.

Is this the Donald "rubber ducky" series? I call it that because they came out with the Donald rubber ducky first, and then a year later, came the pins.

E-bay..To be honest, we were at the downtown pin shop one night and it was a trading night, and this mother and daughter were going loopy when they found a pin that someone was selling.?Eh!...It gets kinda serious for some folk...I'll take some pics of ours, hanging on the wall in what used to be a spare bedroom for guests, now it's a Disney room..LOL..

That's what I call the rubber ducky series. Disney made actual rubber duckies of 7 different designs. The cast lanyard pins came out after that.

Edit: Here's a picture of the 7 Donald rubber duckies that I have on display, a long with a few other Donald stuff.

Notice the similarities to the pins.

SELLING?? On Disney property? And they didn't get kicked off of Disney property for doing that?

It is a big no-no for anyone other than Disney to sell pins while on Disney property. In fact, many pin sharks had been banned from attending any pin trading events, and being allowed into the parks for violating this. This, and other violations and problems were the reasons why many of the pin trading areas around WDW, especially at the Downtown Disney's Marketplace area, had been removed, leaving only the one at Pin Central in Epcot as being the only one left.

This came from this year's Star Wars Weekend at The Studios.

Obviously, I've been seduced to the Duck side of the Force a long time ago.

I love the rubber duckies!! How cute! Thanks to a great pin haul at SWW, we're up to 35 Star Wars pins, but we missed out on the May the Fourth and Revenge of the Fifth pins this time.

We collect WDI pins, even when they are not within the themes that we collect. This is because these WDI pins are often very well-done, and have amazing design. Some of them are also quite clever.

I've shown you a framed panel of some of our WDI pins earlier in this thread. This is another recent acquisition to add to that collection.

The number of minutes can be changed by spinning the wheel of wait times behind the pin.

You've got some amazing finds, ZZ! What's your main source of pins? Do you buy/trade online?

Main sources are: (1) pin friends, (2) monthly Windy City Pin Traders pin meet, and (3) buying and trading at WDW.

I think we have one of the few very active pin trading groups in the country. I know New Jersey has a quarterly big pin trading event that they organize each year, but our WCPT group has one each month (the third Saturday of the month). We continue to have the regulars from at least 3 different states (Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin) and often attracts regulars from Florida (whenever they are in town), Iowa, and Ohio. We also get new members often, so they bring in new blood and new pins!

So that's how I can still get pins even when I haven't been to WDW lately.

That's great! I have a few friends that trade and I know a bunch of people who have pins laying around their houses, but getting them assembled to trade has proven difficult. I did buy about 650 pins from a local collector (at an average of less than $2/pin! eek ) who was moving on from the hobby, so that was a great opportunity. I was buying occasionally on ebay, but the uncertainty of working a commission-based job coupled with increased traveling this year as forced a pin purchasing embargo for the time being. I've also done some trading on pinpics, but it can be rather cumbersome to do via mail. I've heard of the New Jersey group. I may have to check them out at some point. I like trading in person better because it really promotes the spirit of using the pins as a vehicle to get to know each other better. Unfortunately, Chicago is a heck of a commute from south central PA!! laugh

If you are ever in the Chicago area during our pin trading Saturday, consider yourself having a standing invitation to come visit us. And bring lots of pins!! Smile

I've tried inviting a few of this forum's members who are in the area, but no one seems to have taken up on that invitation. Are they all afraid that I might bite? I will have you all know that I've had my rabies shot.

Considering it's been nearly 25 years since the last time I was in Chicago (mom was navigating and dad made a wrong turn and we ended up driving throughout the ghetto at night. I was in the back seat listening to my walkman. LOL. fun times.)...I should be due for a return trip!

My track record for traveling in a midwestern direction is not the greatest, but if I do happen by, Windy City Pin Traders will be at the absolute top of my to-do list--followed closely by a pilgrimage to hang out with Angie & Amy!

My non-Disney travel typically revolves around our annual YMCA Gymnastics Nationals competition and my real estate company's annual conference. The recent opportunities for travel have been to Austin, LA, Savannah, and Tampa. Next year Nationals is in Wichita (boss hasn't decided if we're going. Fingers crossed for staying home--I don't actually care to go to Kansas mid-tornado season) and the conference is in Washington, DC (only two hours down the road for me and I worked there for three years...not very exciting). Hopefully Chicago will come up as an event location soon!!!

One major advantage of belonging to a club of pin traders, and having close friends who are also pin collectors, is that at many times throughout the year, there's someone at the parks. This means that they often ask for pins that we would want them to buy, without us being there.

This is true for this pin. A few of our friends were down at WDW during the recent DHS anniversary. Since they knew that we collect passholders/DVC/etc pins, they bought this on our behalf even when we didn't ask for it, since they knew we would want it.

This pin will go into our Passholder pins frame.

This pin was a bit of a surprise, because I didn't know if its existence even though it was released more than a decade ago.

This millennium pin of Donald and Daisy in fancy outfit to welcome to the new millennium was a treasure to find. I don't think this is even a limited edition pin, and yet, a few weeks ago was the first time I saw it. (Pins released around 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 are often very sought after).

This is not really a post on my most favorite pin, but I'm trying to keep in discussion in just one thread, so I'll post this here.

In case you didn't know, if you belong to AMC movie theater Stubs, you get pins to certain movies. They had pins for Capt. America, Frozen, etc. They had pins for Guardians of the Galaxy:

http://comicbook.com/blog/2014/07/17/guardians-of-the-galaxy-collectible-pins-to-be-given-away-at-amc/

Unfortunately, when I went to see the movie on Saturday, it turned out that they were all out of the pins by Friday! CRAP!

The most sought-after pin is the emblem pin, which is in very limited quantity.

So, anyone here got any of these pins, and do you want to trade? Smile
