Where would you want to be a CM?

They asked this on my backstage tour and I thought it was interesting:

Where would you want to be a CM, or, what would be your desired Disney job?

I think I'd like to be a backstage tour guide...or maybe work in landscaping so I could spend a lot of time outside.

Is there a guy in charge of tasting all the food? I'd take that one!

If not, I'll be one of the old guys who hangs out at the resorts and greets everyone. I think that once Disney brainwashes you into smiling all the time it just gets to you and you become perpetually happy.

We love greed.

What kind of imagineer? Are you designing rides? shows? cruise ships? hotels? movie plots?

I love doing anything creative but if I had to pick than Mechanical Engineer. Coming up with totally new ways to move people around.

I guess you can't take the little boy out of the man, because the first thing that comes to mind every time I ponder this question is MONORAIL PILOT!

I'm pretty sure I want to take care of the animals at the Animal Kingdom. Zoology has always been one of those "I'm gonna do that in my next life!" things for me.

Yeah, it's gotta be Animal Kingdom or Wilderness Lodge. Get to play with the Kitty Cats!

I want to be the guy on the top left of the High School Musical float in the High School Musical parade. The one with the ripped jeans and flock of seagulls hair.

DHS does get left out! I think it'd be fun to be Pocohantas in Fantasmic (and I'd conquer my fear of heights).

I also would like to try my hand at pin design--not that that has anything to do with DHS.

I think Epcot would actually be quite cool, there seems to be a lot going on behind the scenes there. I'd also like to drive the monorail on Imagineer's off day.

I'd either want to embroider mouse ears or work in the Harmony Barbershop. How cool to be a part of all those little kids' first haircuts!

I'd be really interested to learn about all the hydroponic agriculture, but I think that it would quickly turn into work.

I'm skeptical that that's his (your?) first haircut!

Ok, I admit it, I've had a few before that one... laugh

I think it'd be fun to work in the Crush attraction. I'd love interacting with the little kids who still believe in magic enough to think that Crush was really, really there.

You think most of them believe that? That never even crossed my mind. That would be really awesome if they do.

I would love to get a job as one of Disney's fireworks technicians preparing and setting off the Wishes and Illuminations displays. Now all the fireworks are computer controlled but they have to be set-up in the mortar tubes by real techs.

That's a good one. I've seen several documentaries on big fireworks installations and it looks quite interesting. I think pushing the button could be fun too! Now, would you rather do "Wishes" or "Illuminations?" biggrin

Brad: I really can't explain why but I think from a purely technical aspect Illuminations encompasses more than just pyrotechnics, by that I mean it has Fireworks/Fire (the inferno barge) lasers and the globe so it is more difficult to put on. Just my opinion.

That sounds great! I'd love to be in charge of designing new hotel decor.

Lots of room for error! wink But that would be a fun job. I think I remember seeing a travel channel special once where they highlighted the company that does Disney's fireworks shows.

Did you ever get a chance to do the Backstage Magic Tour or an Epcot backstage tour? I know they talk about Illuminations set-up on the Backstage Magic Tour, and I imagine they do on the Epcot tours.

The employee orientation tour.
