greebil : Oh course there are more things that I miss other than Just the Matterhorn. Disneyland just has a different feel and smell to me. I think I was dissapointed because as a child you are in wonder and awe of everything, everything is magical and wonderful. I grew-up in Cali and moved to Fl about 10 yrs ago, before moving I hadn't been there in about 8 yrs so I was very young and went back as an adult. I would have rather have not gone back just so I could hold onto the memories of churros, mint juleps in new orleans sq. and captin e.o. and other things as well.. mostly they are all just the happy times as a child you don't want to let go of.
Wow! sorry I got so deep with that...

Thats me not looking at the camera

Those are all really good points. Sometimes when you have a great memory it's best to leave it alone so you don't contaminate it. It's even kind of true with WDW. Every time they change something, even just the menu at a restaurant, it doesn't seem quite the same as the WDW you remembered.

This is one of the better picture that I've taken, simply because of the look and feel of the picture. It was taken at WDW, but obviously, without knowing and remember where this is, you can't tell that this is at WDW.

I like it a lot because how it makes me feel when I look at it. It is both serene and eerie at the same time.

That's quite a provocative photo. It does feel serene at first glance, then it gets eerie, like you said.

Was this just a rainy day?

No, no rain. It was just early in the morning (MK wasn't open yet) and foggy.

It looks like a hurricane is coming in. Amazing that it didn't rain.

Ok sorry if this sucks, it's just a test...

I know there are a lot of people in the bottom one.. it was supposed to be a Florida Tower vs. California Tower...
Does somebody have a better picture of the Cali tower?

You could crop the people and it would still be a great shot. Very good lighting.

Here are the two pictures of DCA's ToT that I took.

I only took 2 pictures of it because I was so disappointed in the ride. They did it on the cheap, and took out one of the most amazing part of the attraction when the elevator moved out and into another elevator well. The one at DHS still wins hands down as the better attraction, and remains my most favorite attraction in all of WDW.

There is also the "problem" with the fact that the one at DCA does not look "run down" and old, whereas the one at DHS certainly looks and feels that way.

I'm really glad you mentioned this. I've never been to Disney's California Adventure and as I looked at both your and Sara's pictures, I thought "man the DCA version looks much nicer." Of course as you point out that's terrible. It's not supposed to look nice, it's supposed to look old and run down. It really doesn't look ominous at all. I also agree that it would be kind of lame to not have the first part of the ride. Does it just jump immediately into bouncing up and down? Or does it do all the same scenes but just without going through the last scene?

It does everything but moving out of the elevator well. Essentially, after you see the apparition of the former elevator occupants, you get shot up and off you go with the drops.

I was highly disappointed and didn't ride it again. And I'm one of those who ride ToT at DHS multiple times!

Sounds great! And that's a good shot. I always have problems getting Spectromagic shots to come out right.

You guys are gonna love this one!

This is for everyone going in April, May, and June--it's the railroad village in Germany decked out for the Flower and Garden Festival! You can see the little banners if you look up close!

@ZapperZ That's a great post, it's good that we had you around to document the ride before they mucked it all up with Lilo and Stitch.

BTW, Brad, not sure if you regularly read Jim Hill media, but you might be interested in this article.

The next time I go to WDW I'm going to take some pictures of the characters. You claim you don't do anything special but your photos look so nice. I will bring whatever garbage I produce as evidence that you must do something. Although I suspect you can't teach talent.

I think I have that same exact picture! (I always seem to get stuck on that ride right in that room...which is always, oddly, very HOT.)

FYI: If you look just a few degrees to the right of that photo, there's a hidden mickey!

But cdub, just look at the picture of the hidden mickey at Mickey's Philharmagic that I took. You'll notice that it isn't that good. So yes, I do take crappy picture. But I certainly can't show it in this thread since it doesn't fit the topic!
