The 19th annual "A Night at Sardi's" event was held recently in Los Angeles with Disney CEO Bob Iger as the evening's honoree. Raising more than $1.6 million for the Alzheimer's Association, the event drew some 900 guests including some top names in entertainment.
The event, founded in honor of the late broadway great Abe Burrows, recognized Iger with the Abe Burrows Entertainment award which is given "to an individual, television series or movie that embodies the spirit of the event and has shown an extraordinary commitment to the mission of the Alzheimer's Association." Another award, Caregiver of the Year, was presented to Laura Suihkonen Jones.
Nick Jonas helped provide entertainment for the event as did Betty White, Patrick Dempsey and David Hyde Pierce. Seth Rogen acted as emcee for the second time while guests included Jerry Bruckheimer, Taye Diggs, Judd Apatow, and the cast of "The Big Bang Theory."
Iger accepted the award in the name of his mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease. He had this to say :
"Everything that I have, everything that I've ever done, I really owe to [my parents]. Everything that I will ever achieve I owe to them as well, because it started with their love and their support."
