The Walt Disney Company was recently named one of the 15 recipients of the 2015 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. This award is the highest recognition from the Department of Defense that is given to employers that support National Guard and Reserve employees.
The Freedom Award nominations are made by employees and this year there were 2,960 nominations submitted by guardsmen and reservists. This award was established in 1996 and since then 205 employers have received the Freedom Award.
The Walt Disney Company has continued its tradition of supporting the U.S. Armed Forces through its Heroes Work Here initiative, the Heroes Supply Here program that recognizes veteran and disabled veteran-owned companies as suppliers for Disney, and through Disney's Veterans Institute.
The recipients of the Freedom Award will be honored at a ceremony at the Pentagon on August 21.
