We're back with another roundup of Disney news for the week. Summer might be winding down in a few weeks, but that doesn't mean things are slowing down at Disney World! This fall the Magic Kingdom is celebrating its 45th anniversary, and that means many of the park's attractions are also celebrating that milestone!
The Jungle Cruise was one of the opening day attractions when the Magic Kingdom opened its gates 45 years ago. The ride is a 10-minute cruise through the Amazon, African Congo, Nile River, and more. The ride hasn't changed much since 1971, but you can enjoy the holiday overlay 'The Jingle Cruise' each holiday season.
Speaking of the Magic Kingdom, it seems that the entrance to Tomorrowland is getting a facelift. The rocks are getting a fresh paint job!
Disney Springs isn't done growing just yet! There are still several new stores and restaurants coming to the shopping/dining/entertainment district including Blaze Fast Fire'd Pizza, The Edison, Paddlefish, Levis, Tumi, The Polite Pig, and more!
runDisney has announced a few enhancements to their races including the addition of metal finisher medals for the 5K races! Plus, starting with the Disneyland Half Marathon, all event guides will be digital which makes them accessible from your computer, smartphone, or tablet.
And finally, The Walt Disney Company has been awarded a patent for a new technology that would track visitors through their feet. Disney says they have no plans to actually use the technology that uses shoe-level cameras to photograph visitors' feet at various points throughout the parks.
