For many guests, it's a holiday must-do tradition, and this year, there are a few changes to help enhance the experience. We're talking of Disney Hollywood Studio's Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. Since starting way back in 1995, the show has continued to evolve; today, it boasts more than 5 million lights (all energy-efficient LED) and continues to pull in enhancements such as images and music from Disney's "Prep and Landing."
This year, guests heading out to take in the show can expect Santa Goofy to join in the Spectacle; he'll be making nightly appearances on the Streets of America. Guests can also catch up with Santa Goofy in Goofy's Winter Wonderland (situated in the Tri-City Square).
Also new this year is an eighth song incorporated into the show - an arrangement by Creative Entertainment Music Director Dan Stamper of the Christmas classic "Winter Wonderland." According to the director:
As we talked about adding a new piece, we wanted to add something lyric and flowing. To me, the title "Winter Wonderland" meant a time of transformation from hustle and bustle to an elegant beauty. In my mind were images of billowing marshmallow landscapes; where in the city, even the starkest, dark industrial buildings become a thing of beauty with snowcaps and gleaming icicles. The piece grows to a crescendo and then slowly fades as families gather together in their homes to escape the chill.
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is set to start at Disney's Hollywood Studios November 9 and will run through January 6.
