PUSH the Talking Trash Can is No Longer in the Magic Kingdom

PUSH the talking trash can has been removed from the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.

There were rumors of his departure for nearly a week before it was made official, and fans even took to social media to save the beloved trash can, creating a Facebook page in an effort to "Save PUSH."

The animatronic trash can was created by and is owned by an Orlando-based product development company, Real Simple Ideas LLC.

The demise of fan-favorite PUSH the talking trash can came down to a failure to renew a contract between Disney and Real Simple Ideas LLC.

Daniel Deutsch, who is the inventor of PUSH, said in an article in the Orlando Sentinel that there was "ambiguity" in the contract regarding intellectual property rights.

For the last 19 years, PUSH made appearances seven days a week in the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland, often surprising guests who weren't expecting a trash can to talk or move.

It's a sad, sad day indeed. I never interacted with Push, but I loved seeing him react with kids. Always liked trying to spot the guy with the bag as well. Love the proposal video with Push that someone posted on youtube . Sad to see him go.
