There is not a time in my memory that I wasn't a Disney traveler. I raised my kids on Disney trips, just like my parents took me, and their parents took them to Disneyland. Walt Disney World, and the opportunities that it has given me, are things that I am truly thankful for. While it's easy to be nostalgic and emotional about Disney, I also know that there are many very quantifiable reasons that my diverse family keeps returning to Disney Parks over and over again. Below are six Walt Disney World things that I am exceptionally thankful for.
Seasonality & Expansions -
There are so many unique seasonal events that take place on Walt Disney World property it never gets boring. Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall each hold their own charms and specialty programs such as the Festival of the Arts, Flower and Garden Festival, runDisney Events, Food and Wine Festival, Halloween time, and of course Christmas. In addition to the seasonal festivals, there is always something new in the works with attractions and dining.
Expansive Non-Park Activities -
Yes, most people go to Walt Disney World to enjoy time in the world-renowned Theme Parks. However, if that isn't your scene Disney still has an amazing variety of activities that guests can participate in. From hotel pools, and movies under the stars, to cultural programs, culinary experiences, boating, golfing, spa services, and beyond. Disney Springs is just one such exceptional non-park area that has moved the space to the next level. For families who live far from big cities, the expanded shopping, dining, and entertainment options add a whole extra day of fun.
Responsive Guest Services -
While mileage may vary, most of the people I know have had nothing but excellent results when they addressed their vacation concerns with Disney's Guest Services Team. Disney may not be able to change the past and make it so the "bad thing" never happened, but they will do their best to make the rest of your stay, or your future stays a little more magical. Remember, reasonable expectations and a smile go a long way when making a complaint.
Complimentary Transportation for Resort Guests -
It takes a bit of stress out of a vacation when Disney does the driving. Be it by bus, boat, Minnie Van, monorail, or the highly anticipated Skyliner gondolas Disney will take care of getting the whole family wherever you need to go on resort property. Sure, you have to queue in line at the end of a long day, but you also get to have that extra beer at dinner.
Disability Services -
Disney understands, better than many public spaces, that all disabilities are not created equal. We're thankful for wide queues, ample parking spots, accessible busses, Disability Access Service Passes, assistive listening, video captions, sign language interpreters, braille guidebooks, audio description, and so many more services that make it easier for everyone to enjoy the vacation kingdom.
Special Dietary Accommodation -
Allergy friendly menus and well informed chefs with ingredient lists are one of those things that more and more Disney travelers have come to appreciate about this most magical place. Dining is a huge part of the Disney experience, and the resort goes above and beyond to make it as easy as possible. Food allergies, intolerances, medical diets, kosher and halal meals are often easily found at table-service restaurants and even some quick-service locations. Visit the Disney Food Blog Page on special diet resources for more information.
