Walt Disney World Raises Ticket Prices

Visiting the happiest place on earth just got a bit pricier. At the end of last week, Disney raised ticket prices to its Walt Disney World parks.

Both single and multi-day passes were hit by the latest increase. A single day ticket to one of the Walt Disney World parks now stands at $89, a 4.7 percent increase from the previous price. Mutli-day tickets were also subject to the rise in prices and jumped up anywhere from five to sevent percent. Adding the "Park Hopper" option to the multi-day tickets rose by $2 and now stands at $57.

The largest increase in price was seen in the annual pass options. Florida residents will now have to pay $299 for an annual season pass to Walt Disney World, an 11.1 percent increase. Those who wish to opt for a premium annual pass, the most expensive ticket option, will now need to fork over $699 - a 7.7 percent increase.

The new prices were announced last Friday and went into affect just yesterday.

Though I never enjoy a price increase, no one can really say that they didn't see this coming. The Disney rate hike has become an annual event. I don't think that they even calculate if they "need" to raise prices any more, they just do it.

I agree Kristen. This doesn't surprise me, and its not going to prevent me from going at all. But... if they do keep going at the rate they are... the average family won't be able to stay on property and go to the park. Wont matter if free dining is thrown in. The Park Tickets will enough put their wallets in the negative.

It just makes having an Annual Pass all the more worthwhile. It's pays for itself after 2 visits.

Does the rate increase affect vacation packages already booked? Did not look to see if my amount owed went up at all, but I sure hope not. I have 6 multi tickets on my package and that increase times 6 will kick my budget in the pants.

RicMrDisney - It is mt understanding that it should not affect a package that is already booked, but I'm not a TA and don't usually book a package. I suggest you double check your balances on the package to be sure where you stand.

I agree with Mase's comments. It really is going to be extremely difficult for the average family in this economy to afford to go to Disney.

We are a family of 6 getting ready to enjoy a vacation in Disney for 5 days (4 nights in August). For 6 park hopper passes for 5 days it will rack up $1850.00....our dining was only approx $700. Will we still go? Of course! But it was real shocker after I put the numbers side by side! It's worth every dime in my opinion, but we won't be making this a yearly trip! Maybe every 3 year! :)
