Anyone been to the Garden View Tea Room?

I have read about it before and while surfing through the restaurant list tonight (starting to think about ADR's) and think it might be nice to do with our parents when they join us. We are afternoon tea people, we go to london for it etc and although we dont expect it to live up to that, we did think it might be nice for a little while one afternoon.

Can anyone give me some more info on it? Do you have to dress up? Is there a nice view to look at? (I realise the name though so would hope there is some sort of view lol)

Thanks very much Smile

I like it. It is a bright room and the tea I've tried has been good. The food has never been anything truly special, basic scone, fruit tarts, etc. Tea at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, BC or at Fortum & Mason in London is not, but for a different sort of Disney sit down, i've always thought it to be enjoyable. Overall, it is pleasant, but the servers can be quite harried and short as they serve, especially if the room is extra busy or a large group is seated.

I've read some reviews elsewhere on the 'net that are less than glowing - but I've gone twice and overall have been pleased.

We've never dressed up although we've seen some folks in nicer clothes, and the view is quite nice. We've even seen a mother and daughter wearing their tea cozies as hats! Must have been British. . . laugh

I liked it also...I went on an all girls trip in '07 and am going again as a surprise for my fiance for our 10th Anniversary in June...You dont have to dress up, but we didnt wear jeans, we were I guess you'd call resort casual..Thats the plan for June, also.

The Garden View Tea Room is one of the most divisive issues I've ever seen. Some people love it, some people hate it. One thing I will say is that everyone agrees the seating is a bit tight.

Thank you for the input Smile not expecting a huge amount from it, but thought it might be a nice couple of hours near the end of our trip. Have spoken to my parents who would like to do it so now just need to speak to my In Laws Smile

I agree with Brad in hearing mixed reviews. I think that as long as one keeps an open mind they'll have a good time.
I haven't been myself yet but am planning a Bridal Tea for next year there. I've seen folks sitting for tea in there wearing jeans, in nice dresses with hats, and even in full Victorian.

This is something I definitely want to try for my trip. Now I just need to convince fiance. Maybe I just won't tell him, until we get there... biggrin
