Closure of the Backlot Tour at DHS

Announced that it is closing for good next Saturday 27 Sept.

They should just rename it Frozen land as Wandering Oaken is moving in to it partly. The only Park Frozen is not in is Animal Kingdom.

What's happening to the studio part of DHS? No longer exists.

I have heard it's closing on either the 11th or 16th October....

I hope it's the 16th because I love the Paris version and was looking forward to doing it all in English !

I was not so worried about honey I shrunk the audience but it does seem like a lot to close.

Rumour has it that they are building a 3rd track to tsm and toy story land.

I'm guessing the Frozen stuff will sit on a small portion of what's currently the Backlot Tour. Wandering Oaken's can only take up so much space, even with an ice rink. And nothing else has been announced that I'm aware of. I hope it's something awesome.

As Sally-Ann said, it will be closing, next Saturday September 27th.

I would enjoy a build out of Pixar Place that includes the looooooong rumored Monsters Inc. coaster, but I'm not holding my breath. The executive that headed up the crazy popular Cars Land in Disneyland was moved to a position in Florida last year, so that could possibly signal a similar expansion. However, it would be sad to have it focus on just one of the movie series, and I don't want a cookie cutter of Cars Land. I think a more general expansion that forcuses on several Pixar Classics would be appropriate for DHS (but I'm not a Disney executive.) We haven't really heard anything substantial at this point regarding the Pixar Place expansion, mostly because people are so focused on Star Wars.

So, what do we know is coming soon "somewhere" - Bob Iger confirmed a little over a month ago that we would be getting an announcement in 2015 about more Star Wars in the Park. "Project Orange Harvest" has been teased at the last D23 to give fans hints of that. Disney Hollywood Studios is by far the easiest place to put major components of that in, though Disney has been looking at possible Star Wars expansion for all of the parks.

Whatever they do, it will be very nice to see this Park get a little TLC and updated to be offer a full Park experience all day long vs. how they close half the Park early now.

I'm glad I got to go on the Backlot Tour last November. Excited to see what comes next.

You can rule out putting an ice rink. The only thing that will remain is the snow "playground" and the merchandise shop when Wandering Oakens relocates.

But anyway, I desperately hope it's for Star Wars expansion. I, too, would not want a Cars Land replica because I'd be tired of reading all these complaints of how WDW is being unoriginal and that they're not putting in top quality, one of kind, world class attractions and that they're "borrowing" too much from California Adventure. (i.e. The Little Mermaid ride that originated in California Adventure.) or how Radiator Springs Racers in the Studios is nothing more than an inferior version of Test Track and whatnot. But, if they are going towards a Pixar Place expansion and add attractions from Pixar movies that haven't any sort of park attractions in any Disney park like Wall-E or the Incredibles, I'd be okay with it and hold no grudges....if it's done right!

It was way past time to put it out of its misery. Anything to replace it has to be an improvement.

It would be great to see these two gems get some love! And Up. Don't forget Up (or as my mom calls it, "the saddest movie ever made")

I just wonder how long it will be until they replace it. Or "if" they even replace it.
