Coronado Springs Room Recommendation

With the FD offering we just bumped up our room from POP to Coronado Springs for Aug 31-Sept 6! awesome We were hoping for POFQ but since it was excluded we went with CS based on recommendations on here (buzz and I wanna say becks were raving about it). Who all has stayed here? What section would you recommend? We got a standard view so nothing fancy but not sure what building to request.

Thanks!

King Fergus

Mr Ferret is yer man for this question..It's his favourite resort, well up to now anyway..

Yes, we stayed there in October of 2012! Loved it! I was particularly charmed by the Ranchos section near the quiet pool. It's very California; lovely big oak tree with Spanish moss wafting in the breeze, the laundry facilities are right there, etc. We didn't get over to the Casitas section at all and while I thought the Cabanas section was nice, I'm not sure it's worth the extra money for a preferred location. I really got the feeling that CS is a "Deluxe Lite" resort. I was wowed by the lobby architecture and I feel like the rooms are a cut above the other Moderates I've stayed in, even my much loved POFQ. The beds were nicer and I think the finishes are a bit more upscale as well. It's obvious that this resort caters to the business community, so I think there is a desk instead of a table and a single sink instead of two. Didn't bother my family at all. Please keep in mind that it's a HUGE place and we were there in October and had fairly chilly weather. Navigating around in early September is going to be an entirely different animal - a hot and sticky one! I wish I could give you a review of the food areas or lounges but we didn't get the chance to try them out. Let me know what you think!

ETA - Sorry, I didn't answer your original question! We were in building 6B in the Ranchos section. I was a bit irked when we got assigned there but once we got over there, I loved it. It's convenient to both the quiet pool and the Dig Site pool, laundry and Bus Stop 3 (IIRC, the buses going to the parks pick up at 2, 3, 4 and then 1) so you're in good shape to get a seat and you don't have a long wait to get out. Next time, I think I'd request either building 7A (Ranchos quiet pool) or Cabanas 8A or 9B.

We were just there in October and it was amazing, We were in the Casistas just close to the bus stop, seriously right next to the big pool. I'm totally in love with the resort.

Have to agree with Becks534 Roncho's all the way for us yay .It is furthest from the main hotel lobby but it also keeps the number of suits you see daily to a minimum and the bus-stops are not too far wherever you end up in that section.

DF wants CSR so bad, but when we try to book it at disney.com the resort is not available for our dates (sep. 13-27). Not a room is available. Nothing. At. All. yuck

I wonder if they'll have a convention or something...

We stayed in the Cabanas--either building 8 or 9. It was convenient to El Centro for breakfast in the mornings, but still convenient to the Cabanas bus stop. Also, we never go to the feature pool, so the pool near our building was sufficient. I would choose that section again.

It depends on what you want to be close to. Here are some room location suggestions you can look at.

We did two years ago because it was the only mod left to book the RO discount, with queen beds for our June trip. It was okay for size of room and amenities, BUT it's really big and we take standard rooms which can make it a hike to the front hub to pick up goodies. We are booked there again because everything shut down so fast that our TA wanted to make sure we could get the FD on May 7th. IF the POanything reopens and allows FD, she is moving us without needing permission. I really wanted the smaller resort because my legs do get tired, but I am not asking our friends to pay over $700 more than they have to. If CS closes before the gp of FD, then we are looking at probably POPs with King beds, but that actually costs more than the original trip with DDP. Ah Well

I still will be at Disney during W&F (and B) with two great friends and my DH newly retired. So I am choosing to be grateful and happy.

Allie - I haven't stayed there myself, but I did visit Becks during her last stay and it was LOVELY. Her room was large, modern and chic - not usually what I imagine when I think of a Disney moderate resort. I am super picky about my hotels, but I would happily stay at Coronado Springs, even though it is a hike up to the main buildings.

OldTink - You keep telling us that you're choosing to be happy about this trip. Are you trying to convince yourself?? laugh

Allie - apologies for the threadjack!

Old Tink - I can tell you that at least for the November portion of the Free Dining dates, Coronado Springs is completely full in advance of the general public release on May 7th. My travel agent at Magical Journeys worked her butt off but couldn't get us in there, so we're at Caribbean Beach. Not complaining! CBR is a lovely resort, we have great memories there and this is REALLY an "OMG, I can't believe we're going!" trip. I admit that I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a sprinkling of pixie dust and cancellations to open up some rooms at Coronado Springs for us.

Threadjack over!

My parents and I stayed there in 2012 and we were in the Ranchos. It was great! They loved it and I loved it. We were in the building closest to the bus stop, which was great for my parents because they have disabilities and can't walk very far. We ate at Maya Grill which was good and I would stop at Cafe Rix on my way back to the room to get a late dinner or snack after work. I would stay there again in a heart beat. The feature pool is very nice. My dad and I really liked the water slide. I also like that you can get your refillable mug refilled at the pool.

I have a split stay in October - All Star Movies and POFQ. I am waiting for RO discounts to be released. I am trying to decide on back up plans if there are no discounts for these resorts. I am definitly going to try for CSR based on the feedback here.

Each time something changes, I need to repeat the mantra because in all the "feeding frenzy" (pun), it does change what you "envisioned." So yes, but not so much.

We already have a package booked at CS for mid Sept so we should be safe. TA said they were the last two standards that week though. We looked at the CBR but DH isn't real fond of the theme and for us tall people, queen beds are deal breakers. To go down to value and upgrade dining, we lose almost all we would save, so CS it is! (There is still a "wee little hope" that Disney will open PORS for Sept for GP release on the 7th, but that's frosting!)

Hi Mrs Mrferret here, as he mentioned rancho's is our fav section. The whole resort is stunning though, I am in love with the place muchlove . In fact I'm not 100% happy that he chose to stay at POR for our next trip (2015) sad . The down side to CSR for me is the dining options, the Pepper Market is confusing, pricey and to be honest I didn't enjoy the food at all yuck Maya Grill was all posh and expensive.
But as I said the resort is beautiful, I would pick it everytime. We were discussing yesterday if we'd try a deluxe in 2018 (we have to leave gaps between trips to save) I really just want to go back to CSR
