Disney Springs Bringing In The Locals

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/tourism/os-disney-springs-locals-20160212-story.html

News reports this week have been saying that Disney Springs is really starting to bring in the locals. With a 70% out of towner demographic, Disney Springs drawing in the local crowds really changes up the demographic for this shopping, dinning, and entertainment area. What are your thoughts on this? Do you like the thought that Disney will have a large local scene, or do you prefer thinking that everyone is a tourist? Does it even matter to you? I'm sure that if I lived in the area I would be a regular.

Really, it makes no bit of difference to me at this point. As long as I can still stroll along, enjoy the food, do some shopping, listen to the music and enjoy the cool breeze in the evening, I'm happy! muchlove

I'm not surprised by this at all. As you said, if I were local, I would go often also. There is so much variety and an upbeat feel not matter what section you are in. I am a sucker for live music and there are so many options there now.

The crowds will be much higher I think once it is complete. That would definitely make it less desirable a place for us to go to.

However they are still adding a LOT of space, I believe there are two different sections of the town that are left to open.

I like seeing the area prosperous. Businesses don't last without customers and I can only bring them my business every year or two wink Disney Springs needs the local support as well as the tourist support to keep it thriving.

Yea, I was taking a look from the top of the parking garage, there is still lots of area to finish. The bus lot looks HUGE now!

I think it's great that the locals are patronizing the area. I know tourists make Disney what it is but it is important that the locals feel just as welcome.

When my friends have a night out most of the go to Disney Springs or Citywalk at Universal. I love that they are adding a lot of live music to Disney Springs. Last time I was there, there was a rap duo by the food trucks performing; by the hot air balloon there was a sax player preforming and by Fultons Crab house, there was a strings trio also performing. Not to mention there was probably a DJ or something on the stage outside of World of Disney.

I loved the rap show! They were pretty awesome. They were taking words from the crowd and making up a rap on the spot.

I missed the strings group, I would have liked that!

I think this is one of the things that they've really done right in bringing it over from the California Park. The make-up there is 70% local, and you really get that great vibe of a fun urban center to hang out and enjoy the night. I love that it what's happening at Disney Springs.
