Do you have "real life" Disney friends?

I think we may have discussed this before, but I'm not sure. How many of you have friends in "real life" who enjoy Disney as much (or nearly as much) as you do? You guys are pretty much my only Disney friends. Everyone else thinks I'm weird for going so often. gaah

There are a few people at work who "get it", but none of my close friends.

I do! I have family and friends both who love the parks--some who go more often than I do (though if I was rolling in dough I'd go more often!)

My best friend is as Disney obsessive as I am. We took our friend who had never been there before about two years ago and had a great time.

My cousin is probably worse than me. She is a Disney enyclopedia.

Our other aunt and uncle go about 3 times a year. They love it and have disney all over their house.

I am in grad school while working and I made a new Disney friend the other night. She noticed my Disney Dooney bag and stuck up a conversation. We talked about dining and attractions all night. Nice to have something interesting to do during boring lectures!

My boyfriend likes to go to Disney, but isn't into the trivia, research and constant discussion of the topic. He indulges in my obsession though.

It's always good to have a significant other who indulges your love of Disney. We have a few fun stories around here about who converted whom among the married couples who post on the boards mickey

Do you like Disney in general or just the parks?

Disney in general. My ipod playlist for the gym usually includes the Country Bear Jamboree and the Little Mermaid Soundtrack. I love going to the park because they are everything I was brought up around- Disney music and movies. In the last 5 or 6 years I've become more interested in it's history and going to parks looking for the little details that make them so special.

Of course many of us have either co-opted our significant other, or been co-opted by them...

I hope you're getting a lot of fun updates from her!

I have some great friends who are Disney fans, but they're able to spend their money to go on non-Disney vacations more often than I am!

I have a few friends who are theme parks nuts who like to talk about rides and stuff, but not many who will talk about Disney for as long as I can.

What are the good thrill ride parks in GB? Any particularly noteworthy?

The two biggest are Alton Towers and Thorpe Park. Both have there plus points but fall down horribly if you want anything more than very basic theming.

The websites are very reminiscent of Six Flags here. Any stand-out rides we should know about? Would you check either of these out if you were visiting England on limited time?

Nothing really stands out, most of the rides are just too short. The newest ones, Thirteen at Alton Towers and Saw at Thorpe Park are supposed to be good though.

Talked to a work friend who's a Disney nut at length today. Really made my day. He shared all kinds of stories of his family's magical experiences. It's utterly remarkable how each of us has some of these magical experiences. It's like they just foster a culture of happiness there. He told of special interactions he had in the parks as well as on their first Disney cruise (his kids say they would rather go on a Disney cruise now and would be fine without the parks).

Sounds like they try to go at least once a year. They're thinking about a December trip this year. I told him all about my plans, so that may have urged him on a bit.

Hello everyone. Well you know me and Scrappy both love Disney. I have several friends at work that like Disney a lot, but only one that likes it as much as we do. Our kids also like Disney and would probably all go more if they had the time and money.

It's those "almost there" folks that are the hardest. You can chat Disney with them, but only to a point -- then they think you're a little crazy laugh

Do you guys remember the scene from Groundhog Day where the owner of the bed and breakfast he's staying at asks him about the weather and he gives a big giant explanation. When she looks at him funny, he says "Did you want to talk about the weather, or were you just making chit-chat?"

Sometimes I feel like that. laugh

LOL, I love that movie. Oddly enough, it's fun to watch over and over.

I taped it when it was on cable one day in high school. I watched it so many times, I think I wore it out. There are a few scenes in that movie that are painfully funny; legendary stuff.

It's amazing that such a repetitive film is so re-watchable. I will watch that and Willy Wonka (the original) whenever they're on!

Right there with ya. That was another VHS tape we literally wore out as kids.
