Hello from England

Hi, thought i'd better finally introduce myself as i've hung around in the background here for quite a while.

I'm Fiona from Southampton, UK. I've been to Disneyland California once, Disneyland Paris once and WDW 3 times :-
1st visit - in 2000, with my then dh and friends with children, stayed off site
2nd visit - in 2008 with then dh and my 2 daughters who were aged 2 and 6 (she had her 6th birthday whilst we were there), stayed at POFQ
3rd visit - in 2011 as a single mum with my daughters aged 5 and 9, I celebrated my birthday that time, stayed at WL

Next visit planned is for May 2014 and being the type A planner that i am, i've already started thinking about what hotel we should stay in and where we should eat, lol laugh
So hoping to get tips from you all especially about the new things being introduced like MyMagic+

welcome Fiona! One thing I've learned from this awesome community is that it's never too early to start planning and dreaming, so I can't wait to hear all about your ideas for your May 2014 trip!! What are some of your Disney favorites (rides, restaurants, etc.)?

Kat - Thanks for the welcome. Disney favourites are always hard to choose but at a push i'd say

Ride - Soarin' - rode it 5 times last visit awesome
Restaurant - Teppan Edo is defo on must-do list for next time, loved the whole experience and thought the food was delicious
Dinner Show - HDDR
Parade - Main Street Electrical
Characters to interact with - ugly stepsisters, so funny laugh (although Flynn Rider has to come a close 2nd)
show - FOTLK, saw it 3 times
Special experience - afternoon tea at GF

Welcome, Fiona! Your name is SO pretty! We don't come across many Fionas in the States...it's such a lovely name!

OOH! I haven't seen Flynn Rider yet! What's his schtick? Does he do The Smolder?? Smile

Oh, and great article on My Magic + on the front page of the site, in case you're interested...it all sounds really exciting!

So glad to have you join us!

Very cool!! Soarin' is one of my favorites, too (definitely Top 5: I think Splash Mountain is my very favorite). And I haven't met Flynn yet either, but I would LOVE to--Tangled is mine and my fiance's favorite Disney movie and we're even having a Tangled-inspired wedding!

Thank you, i like my name as well.
Flynn Rider was just as he was in the movie and yes he definitely does the smoulder, in fact lots of the mums in the line were planning to ask him to show them his smoulder. he was great with my dds as well, showing them the tiara that he had in his satchel.

I like dole whips but tbh i prefer a mickey bar mickey The cupcakes just look too huge so i've never tried one. Might have to put it on my to do list for next time.
I also like the frozen bananas, but that's probably because we never get them over here. Oh, and i also love the shaved ice that i bought at a stand in WS, again that's something we never get here.

Hi Fiona I'm a newbie here too....and also from England (although I forgot to mention that in my intro, oops!) I'm from the other end of the country, all the way oop North in Durham.

And I agree, it's never too early to start planning. I started in 2011 for this trip, booked accommodation in May 2012, flights this month and we don't go until November!! I completely do my poor son's head in by keep telling him what new things I've discovered for us to do, see, go, eat, drink etc etc. He just says "Mum just do whatever you want, we always have a fab time". Awww bless.

JA x

I was brought up in Leeds, in Adel. I spent all my school years there, i expect it's very different now.
I'm enjoying reading all the posts, but then i like anything to with WDW!

Yes Fiona it's probably changed a bit - Leeds centre has changed massively!!
It makes you feel quite normal when you see others as mad about Disney as you are!! Best place ever laugh

Yes WDW is perfect for Type A's. It provides so much info we get to create spreadsheets! stars I just started planning my trip in April 2013 and feel like I am way behind! Everything changes so quickly in the World, and I am always searching for the best way to enjoy them ALL-well not all... I think one of the reasons it takes a lot of planning is that, usually our families change as WDW changes too!

I always wanted to be able to go in September, but as a teacher this is the worst time, other than May. I always have to travel during peak season. yuck

Welcome, I'm from just outside Romford. Lovely site and the people are great and friendly and helpful. Enjoy the planning and reading the trip reports, they are the only thing that keeps me going towards October silly
