Ahem. I have an announcement.

Joe has requested that in order to provide and fair and balanced perspective, that I advise you that we do have non-Disney decorations as well. I believe his intent is to show the outside world that we are somewhat...."normal". I find that cute and amusing.

So, without further ado, here goes....the non-Disney parts of the house:

Working on the outdoor stuff too.

I have to redo the lights this afternoon. If I can get some good pictures of those at night, I'll post that too.

Did I mention I love Christmas?

Oh, and has this swayed anyone to think we are "normal"? Just curious.... laugh

Jeff , what is normal? I have always thought you were normal, just like us! And I'm trying to find the hidden Mickey's, I know they're in there somewhere! wink

And thank you everyone for the compliments. Everyone's trees are gorgeous.

Oh, I didn't notice the Rudolph theme on JoAnn's table the first time around. It's about time to pop that DVD in. So many of those cartoons...Rudolph, Frosty, Grinch, Charlie Brown Christmas...are such a throwback to my childhood. Never miss them.

JoAnn, love your Rudolph display. Our youngest son was a big Rudolph fan.
Jeff, your house is BEAUTIFUL.
Hopefully, we will be finished with our decorating by the end of next weekend.

Joe often refers to the time between when I am done with the main decorations and Christmas as Danger Time - it's when I am looking for more things to do around the house.

So as to not disappoint, I decided the shower could use some holiday joy! And I just happened to have a bunch of window clings we got on clearance last year!

Can't wait to see the look of surprise on his face when he sees this!

yeah yeah yeah

OMG Jeff, I think it is very safe to say that is indeed going to be a KODAK moment. Oh how I wish I could see it! I however think it is great.

My grandpa (papa) had one of those ceramic trees as well. My aunt has it at her house!

I made a bunch of Christmas presents at a ceramics studio last year, they still have those trees. Find a ceramics studio in your area and you should be able to make them. And don't think you have to have any artistic ability to paint ceramics. I sure don't, I am crafty, not artsy. Could not paint a recognizable picture to save my life.

OMISTARS RE: the ceramic trees! My grandmother made them in ceramics class too! I finally got one of hers right before she died, but it's not the one I wanted. My mother has a ton of stuff to go through in her garage, and I'm hoping to find one like the one that Jeff has. I thought the same thing when I saw that pic. The one I have has all red "lightbulbs" on it, and the shape is different. I'll post a pic soon, I promise! How cool that we all have this treasured memory.

Dave's "tree" at his parents house is a white tree that HIS grandmother made in ceramics glass with red bulbs!

He loves that stinkin' tree. He still goes home every year to pick where it goes and set it up.

I love everyone's decorations--I am such a slacker that I started this thread but never posted ours! I have a cell phone picture of it but I need to get a good daylight picture to post here!

Bella, I've got you beat in the slacker department. I've STILL got my corncobs, turkeys, and pilgrims up! Probably won't get to Christmas till this weekend.

Jeff - that is fantastic! I never would have thought to decorate the shower! How fun y'all are!

Bella - Mom and I were just talking about the fact that there's a stray white tree somewhere in the collection, but it might have been at Glada's. Glada was my grandmother's good friend, who had the ceramics studio.

Courtney - that's interesting to note! I should check in our local store. Incidentally, I wonder if it's a commentary on our times that now, the hot thing is just to paint premade pieces, when 30 or so years ago, they actually made them. I wonder if they're expensive? Our little studio here is kinda pricey, but we loved making gifts there last year.

The studio i went to did all thier own pouring & firing. She charged for the piece, then we went to a drop in class for $4.00 each class, which covered our glazes & supplies. I think i spent around 100-125(CDN). I made 3 christmas balls, 2 mugs, 3 piggy banks.

the bigger piece the higher the price. all studios operate diferently. i liked where i went, becuase you did not have to buy you own glazes. you could for larger pieces, but if all you needed as teaspoon or so, it was nice not to have to buy the whole bottle.

hopefully you can find somewhere to make a tree

OK so it took us a while, had to wait for the teenage daughter to get her new phone to use her camera on it! Mike made all the ornaments and the Mickey topper, so this is our homemade Mickey tree! I love it more than anything we could ever buy!
