Plans for a Disney hotel in our nation's capital have been scrapped. Disney recently announced they will not be pursuing the building of a hotel in Washington, D.C., though they spent some $11 million to acquire land for the project just three years ago.
Back in 2009, Disney bought fifteen acres of property on the outskirts of the District of Columbia in hopes of constructing a standalone, Disney-themed hotel. The move was part of a larger strategy to build such hotels and even mini theme parks at various locations throughout the country.
